Thursday is THE TERRIFIC '30s & '40s
Day 8
Marvel Mystery Comics #8 & 9
by Bill Everett?? & Alex Schomberg??
Cover Date: June & July 1940
I'm putting up two covers today, because they cover a historic two part story. Unfortunately, Martin Goodman didn't realize that, and stuck us with the Phantom (who he was convinced was going to be a star) for the first part. At least Bill Everett, who drew the cover had a clue, as he announced "Something New" over the sidelined images of Torch and Namor. And it was indeed, as it was the birth of Marvel's shared universe.
