LOL! Exactly, Next time I hear some derogatory remark about Namor's divine ankle wings, I'm whipping out this image of Mr. Ear Wings. ;p

I really don't remember this story, and probably for good reason, but I found some info. His name is Aeroika. This is the quote from the MUA.

Aeroika was one of the many Winged Ones created by Ytitnedion and forced to serve the Buzzard People in Ogeon. When the Defenders captured the Nilffim Riders (@ Defenders I#72), the Winged Ones managed to smuggle him out, so that he might join the fight against the Unnameable and fulfill the prophecy of his race.
    More info here:

I am resisting the urge to look up the Buzzard People. LOL!
Namor the Sub-Mariner, Marvel's oldest character, will have been published for 85 years in 2024. So where's my GOOD Namor anniversary ongoing, Marvel?

    Blue trunks ... and penguins.

I have often wondered why Namor is radiating in this image.

Tuesday is THE TANTALIZING 21st CENTURY
    Day 6

    Fantastic Four #32
    by Salavador Larroca
    Cover Date: August 2000

Namor was in a few other titles in 2000s, but this is the first of the new century where he's featured on the cover. This issue had Susan Storm, obviously, but it also saw the return of one my favorite of Namor's ladies, Dorma -- though an alternate version of the lady.

Yes. It's the way comics colored someone's hair black, as opposed to brown -- the highlights are colored blue. This is Atlas era Everett, IIRC, so it would have been after they changed Namor's hair to black, instead of auburn / red.

This is probably my favorite era of Everett's Namor.

    Wednesday is THE WILD '90s
    Day 7

    Marvel Age #84
    by John Byrne
    Cover Date: January 1990

Namor at his urbane. I didn't realize the first comic with Namor on the cover for this decade would be the complete opposite of 'wild.'

Thank you! I'm glad you are enjoying it. I'm having fun with it, though I get a little busy myself, like today, and it may not always be as timely.

    Thursday is THE TERRIFIC '30s & '40s
    Day 8

    Marvel Mystery Comics #8 & 9
by Bill Everett?? & Alex Schomberg??
Cover Date: June & July 1940

I'm putting up two covers today, because they cover a historic two part story. Unfortunately, Martin Goodman didn't realize that, and stuck us with the Phantom (who he was convinced was going to be a star) for the first part. At least Bill Everett, who drew the cover had a clue, as he announced "Something New" over the sidelined images of Torch and Namor. And it was indeed, as it was the birth of Marvel's shared universe.
