post-ZH/pre-IC. Post-ZH was based heavily on pre-ZH, but had some important differences that were more than just time marching on; likewise with post-IC vs. pre-IC. The strongest years for me were 1992–2003.

Even though i like the New 52 a lot, i have to say that i LOVED the pre-flashpoint continuity (mainly post zero hour).

Anything pre-New 52. I loved the sense of legacy. The New 52 has some good stuff but I miss the prior eras

is this exclusively just the history/stories in the continuity? Or do character personalities factor in too? I'd assume not, since that's so dependent on the writer...
Comics were definitely happier, breezier and more confident in their own strengths before Hollywood and the Internet turned the business of writing superhero stories into the production of low budget storyboards or, worse, into conformist, fruitless attempts to impress or entertain a small group of people who appear to hate comics and their creators. -- Grant Morrison, 2008

I liked the history from right after Crisis till before Infinite Crisis. After Infinite Crisis, DC became a mess.

I picked Pre-Crisis, though there are elements of all of them that I've liked. My reasons were:

The original Earth 2....JSA, All Star Squadron, Infinity Inc, etc.
The Legion of Super Heroes...these were the classic stories where the concept really shone!
    New Titans
    Imaginary stories

The general tone was more hopeful, and the heroes were consistently heroic.

Pre-COIE, but it's not coming back, so I enjoy what I do now.

Post Crisis up until Armageddon 2001.

I was a Hawk & Dove fan and a Captain Atom fan. What that event did to the characters of both books left me bitter and twisted, and deeply cynical about events in general. After that I still loved individual characters and titles, but the honeymoon was over for my love affair with the DC universe as a whole.

It's Post Crisis & New 52 (proudly!) I found some of the Pre Crisis stuff to be very stale. I don't know what people see in that continuity.
