Alternatively (and, perhaps, a bit more realistically), I think Matt Fraction could do something interesting with it, and I very much enjoyed his treatment of kids in FF. It strikes me he works best when he's off to the side, where he has room both to stretch his weirdness and also utilize an informal voice. The straightforward stuff never really hits, does it? You can tell it's not coming from an honest place, and so the emotional beats rarely resonate.
I also get the sense that Tom King might have some interesting Animal Man stories in him. By contrast (to Fraction), he's quite serious, his work often quite dour, but there is a lot of formal experimentation, which is a hallmark of Animal Man, and his recent Dick Grayson/baby issue says he understands family dynamic (I know he's got his own kids, so that is probably enough on its own).
I'd be happy with any of them.
