A psionic/ telepath is better than Spidey sense. By far. You know they're there and what they intend before they strike. It's how Thanos knew that Monica moving at the speed of light was penetrating his mind. But...Ewingian script.

Yes and no. Her power level was inceeased and we found out she more energy, then human. She has cosmic awareness, is powerful enough to destroy a planet and can stop the moment of molecules....absolute zero.

If you think about it, anyone who has power over, or can manipulate the electromagnetic spectrum on any level should be an Omega level power. Considering some of the most powerful beings utilize it; to gain abilities in some form or fashion; and everything living needs it.

Ewing isn't exactly Starlin when it comes to propelling characters to their utmost potential, but he did establish that Monica was more powerful in ways that weren't previously expounded upon as far as I know. That said, Ewing has a way of rigging plot devices that make it damn near next to impossible for said characters to shine when you want/expect them to shine as solo characters within a group dynamic. So instead of Blue Marvel easily dropping a sub-Boss character (aren't Sentry, King Hyperion, etc., basically a "sub-Boss" character in terms of power levels?), he instead needs to merge with Monica to do so. Instead of Monica dropping Thanos in nanoseconds -- faster than Thanos can think -- Ewing reintroduces Thanos as an effective psionic, even though he had never been depicted with such abilities previously. (These days all it takes to end Thanos is beheading with a sword apparently. Guess his psionic powers are off again??? A simple mind control, paralysis, or illusion should have kept his head on his shoulders, you'd think.)

It was Christopher Priest that had Black Panther introduce the revelation that Monica had a greater potential. There are very few writers that can write extremely powerful characters the caliber of Jim Starlin. I didn't read The Ultimates series by Ewing, but I did thoroughly enjoy the Mighty Avengers scripted by him. I thought he did well writing a team of powerful characters on that book. And thanks, I'll look into that Thanos issue.

I didn't get that feeling. I see it as a professional athlete getting some advice from a professional coach. You have to factor in that Black Panther is one of MU earth's smartest in the comics.

If so, it wouldn't be the first time. I used to hate it when Reed would do that to Sue, or Vision would do that to Wanda. Men telling women about their own bodies, er, powers.

That said, I suppose there will always be scientific implications that no one but a genius would know to consider. I just wonder how that all syncs together now that we know that Monica has some degree of cosmic awareness. You'd think that she'd be intuitively gifted in the use of her abilities.

I nitpick Ewing quite a bit, but on the whole I really liked the Ultimates -- both series. It's worth reading when you get a chance.

I've become even more critical in my older years, I weigh the good and the bad.

I look at superhero teams in the same vein as a sports team. There is always someone leading the team or running the point. So listening to the star player, team leader or coach shouldn't pose an issue.
