***Be warned, I highly disliked this, so Im going to vent lol

Disliked this issue to hell and back.

Absolutely rambling, annoying, and inconsequential dialogue! Unappealing art and colors, and just overall an un-engaging book. There were references to things that were either from the first issue or the current? Or things that have yet to be touched upon? I really can't tell, because nothing sticks in this book and I lack the fortitude to flip through either issue again. And so far I couldn't give two sh*ts about this punk gang nonsense. Why not just have a book about this team of ultimates, from beginning to end, on patrol, talking, learning, and taking care of petty street crime while a bigger arc develops?

It looks like Im the most hateful on the book here haha But i can't say its unfair to expect more from an UU book? Each page left me with nothing. Ive said this on the other Ultimate Boards a handful of us frequent, but I'm ready to throw in the towel after another issue or 2. And Ive never done that with any UU book.

Maybe I'll just take a few breaths, and attempt to re-read both issues tonight to find SOMETHING to hang on to.

I liked it and I think that it sets things up for the rest of the series. I thought that Kitty could have played a bigger role in the issue but at least she is officially on the team now. Also I'm not entirely loving Jessica's new look, I liked her other costume and I think that she shouldn't have cut her hair.

I think he is. Maybe a survivor from the drug that is killing everyone.

I liked issue #2 better than issue #1, so I'm onboard for this. Yeah, it's a familiar story of a brand-new team learning to work together (and they kinda failed here whereas they succeeded earlier in Ultimate Spider-man, so they now know they're still a work in progress).

You must be the first person to complain about a writer establashing and setting story elements up. :b

Because you want to focus on the bigger villains. You don't make an Ultimates comic that focuses 12 issues on petty criminals, you establish the villains and grow their characters. It's great that the villains aren't being treated as an afterthought, this book has things going on!

I really enjoyed this. My only is that Fiffe introduced too many characters in this issue.

Well, the story didn't wow me 100%. The Serpent Skulls, like the base Serpent Society, is full of characters to pad it out. Still, I love the 80s punk aesthetic they have, complete with glaringly bright colors. It reminds me of the Warriors or the '87 TMNT.

Scourge in an interesting addition to the Ultimate Universe. I especially like how his introduction here is essentially his 616 introduction.

    Word up.

Only saving grace of the issue.
