Default Voting for the 2014 X-Book Awards, as voted by CBR Forums

2014 X-Book Awards as voted by CBR Forums

Another year has come and gone for Marvel’s mightiest mutants, and through there were debuts, deaths, epic crossovers, new series launched, and beloved series cancelled. Writers and artists both brought their best, and sometimes, their not-so-best to the table, and now it’s your chance to vote for the Best and Worst of 2014! Voting begins Wednesday, December 31st (the last shipping date for comics in 2014), in this thread and lasts until Sunday, January 11th. Results will begin to be revealed the week of January 18th, 2015.

As much as I’d love to show you last year’s awards thread, and link to it… the Forum got rebooted, so you’ll have to take my word for it in award categories, without the link.

Today, discussion and debate may begin for many of the categories, as we reveal the categories, and the nominees for titles, artists, and writers. This gives you ample time to consider who you’re allocating your votes to.

    Voting Rules:
For any category, you can allocate a 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place candidate for any award. 1st place nods are worth 3 votes, 2nd place nods two votes, and 3rd place nods one vote. Totals will be tabulated, and first place votes to be used as a tiebreaker, should there be one (please remember, if you insist on posting images of the covers, rather than just stating the issue number of the cover you’re nominating, that CBR only allows 3 images per post).
When it comes time to vote, just Reply to this post, delete out this opening part, and fill in the ballot below under “Categories”. Or, cut and paste your post into a PM sent to worstblogever if you want your vote to remain confidential. Thanks for any participation ahead of time!

    Best Hero/Heroine :

    (2012 and 2013 winner: Cyclops)

    Write in 3.

    Worst Hero/Heroine :

    Write in 3.

    Best Villain(s):
Choose the three villains that were so evil, and effective at busting the X-Men’s chops that it was practically scary in 2014. You may decide to nominate a whole villain team, if they’re not individually fleshed out, if you choose.

    Worst Villain(s):
Choose the three villains, or villainous teams, that had downright embarrassing showings, or were mass producers of “epic fail” in 2014.
(2011, 2012, and 2013 winner: Kade Kilgore and his Hellfire Club)

    Write in 3.

    Breakout Star of the Year:

Most Bizarre Moment of the Year (the Rouge Mort Trophy):
Choose three moments from 2014 that left you as a reader, shaking your head, and reading it something again, and again, to believe it actually happened, or that caused a popping sound to occur in your cerebral cortex, they were so weird.

    Write in 3.

    Shocking Moment of the Year:
Pick the three most jaw-dropping plot twists from 2014 that blew your mind, and made you start going through withdrawals for the next issue of a comic to find out what happened next.

    Funniest Moment of the Year:
Whether the writers and artists were trying intentionally to be funny or not, choose three moments from the X-books in 2014 that made you LOL.

    Onomatopoeia of the Year:
Sometimes, “BAMF” or “Snikt” says more than a thousand words. And let’s not forget the legend of “SLAMMO!” This is the equivalent of those awards they have at the Oscars for Foleys and sound editing, perhaps… but honestly, I wish it had been around for X-Men: Die By the Sword when giant sounds were the only thing stopping us from seeing Sage and Psylocke’s unmentionables.
    (2013 Award Winner: POINK!)

    Write in 3.

    Best Romance/Kiss of the Year:
What lip-locks caught your attention? Were there mutants playing tonsil hockey that you felt were beyond hot? Vote here for your favorites!
(2013 Award Winner: Legion & Blindfold)

    Write in 3.

    Best Fight/Battle of the Year:
What would you say was the best scrum between two characters of the year? Or was there an all out team versus team brawl that you feel deserves the nod? Whatever your choice is, please cite the issue number(s), so it's clear which you're picking (because folks like Wolverine and Sabretooth clash like 2-3 times over a calendar year).
(2013 award winner: Legion vs. Cyclops)

    Write in 3.

    Low Light of the Year:
Choose your three most groan-worthy moments of 2014, that would have made you embarrassed to be seen reading it by your friends.

Should X-Men : No More Humans be in a few of these categories?
Trying to catch up on 2 years of Marvel comics.....
Comic Book Parody - Funny comic book stuff.
X-Men: Drama of the Atom - An unfinished Battle of the Atom parody.
