Characters Who Have and Have NOT Gone Dark/Been Corrupted/Went Insane

It's quicker to think of those that HAVE...

1) Iron Man- All kinds of darkness during Civil War, and apparently, afterwards.

2) Thor - Kind of set up his own kingdom on Earth under Dan Jurgens.

3) Wolverine - Brainwashed, seduced, corrupted numerous times, usually resulting in massacres galore.

4) Cyclops - "nuff said"

5) Hulk - Grey Hulk was really not a nice person, and the World War Hulk stuff (though I did not read it) seems pretty dark. And pretty much turned totally savage during the Mantlo "Crossworlds" era.

6) Daredevil - Corrupted by a demon or something during Shadowlands and straight up murdered Bullseye.

7) Vision - Took over the world under Roger Stern's reign in the 80's.

8) Yellowjacket - Slapped his wife, attacked the Avengers.

9) She Hulk - Ripped the Vision in half, thanks to...

10) Scarlet Witch - Went insane/corrupted by multiple traumas and abuses.

11) Genis Vell - Went WAY over the top during the end of his series.

12) Storm -Mohawk era.

13) Phoenix - 'nuff said'

14) Angel - "Archangel"

15) Ben, Sue and Reed from the FF, at various points...

16) Quicksilver - Started during the unfortunate treatment by Englehart in the mini series and went on for a while.

And the list could go on and on...please feel free to add those I didn't.

A listers I can think of who haven't gone overboard are Kitty, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Captain America, the Human Torch, Dr. Strange (right?), Hawkeye (though he did become a jerk), and Wasp. I"m sure I've missed some.

Unless the inversion doesn't qualify, Kitty, Kurt and Janet went dark too. Jan also became more insectoid just before Onslaught. Colossus was a Phoenix Five.

Going "dark" is such a commonly used device in comics that it's probably just a matter of time before we see just about everyone's mad counterpart. Speaking of which, my favorite dualities are Phoenix/Dark Phoenix and Adam Warlock/Magus.

It's not like mind control / brainwashing / other plots to turn characters temporarily bad are even a new type of story. Heck, remember Streets of Poison, where Captain America went mad with drugs?

He got possessed during Storm's World's Apart mini. As for losing his mind, it depends what people think of the whole Happy Pants saga.

Colossus has gone dark. Colossus joined the acolytes, murdered Riptide and almost beat Pete wisdom to death.

I think Doctor Strange has been corrupted once or twice.
