And he had a lot more showings to prove his power level. Tons of high-end stuff. 1-shotting Ares, She-Hulk, Thing, etc. Beating down Sentry (who at the time was touted as being in the same ballpark as uber-cosmics). Green Scar also walked through Avengers (and X-Men) by waves. I'm not trying to poo poo on the notion that Immortal Hulk could be the greatest Hulk to date; I'm just being honest that Green Scar Hulk set the bar about as high as it can go, and it's going to take a lot of consistent showings to objectively shatter that bar. I'd love to see him do it though. He just needs to put in the work before I award him the title. He's walking the right direction for sure.
One of those things than Greg Pak doing well in World War Hulk is show how powerful the Hulk is, by a point of he cause a lot of damage, but nobody get serious hurt. A Hulk guided by vengeance, he know if he uses much more of he got, people get killed (included all). The Worldbreaker persona born by a part of this Green Scar's persona, than is so much anger on Planet Hulk when the true us coming he cannot hold himself. Even of so much anger, he can hold enought to sacrifice for humanity. But this Immortal Hulk is so different, he is not only powerful, but he is smart enough to disgrace Banner's life.

It was mostly from Avengers No Surrender #684 - 686.

Here is a Youtube video that shows every fight and also recaps the series to date. Cheers!

Power aside, I think the most interesting aspect is the shift in intelligence.

So Banner now says ever sense the arrow he's no longer a super genius. That next level brilliance is now gone. It's implied the Hulk now owns that, hence his massive IQ bump. It's almost like the left and right have been split: the scientist from the creative .... Hulk being the later, being the one able to read people and figure out new ways to looks at things while Banner holds the literal knowledge and PHD.

There's a lot more Dr Jekyl/Mr Hyde now .... which is kind of awesome. It also makes him kind of terrible for team books. This will be an interesting hero to track.

I dunno why everyone acts like Banner has lost his intelligence, and that Hulk's gained it.

Banner recognizes and explains radiation poisoning in the latest issue, and Hulk himself is dismissive of the science, saying that science is the specialty of 'the other guy'. He clearly understands it, but he hasn't demonstrated any superior intelligence to Banner, IMO.

All Banner's really lost is that he's no longer a comic book genius who can make a WMD out of two tin cans and some string. He's just back to be a radiation specialist instead of an everything scientist

Yeah, I think Ewing makes it clear that Banner hasn't become a dummy. He just isn't the same over the top intellect he was before.

so what is Banner trying to do now? how is he trying to live his life? is he trying to have a steady job? Is he trying to "cure" himself? is he just trying to be relatively isolated somewhere? Does he intend to be a perpetual drifter? not sure where this is going.

I assume he's just gonna be a perpetual drifter?

The Hulk have this mental powers, he is capable to influence Banner's mind. The arrow is good for the Hulk because he is definitely reborn, bad do Banner because he lost a lot of his mind genious. Mark Waid do this (shoot Banner's head) in the final of Indestructible Hulk run, but Bruce was cured by extremis. Maybe Ewing use Dr. Green elements by Gerry Duggan (i like this run a lot). But one thing is shure, Banner must trying a new cure, this time to stop this Hulk. Like i said before i trust in Ewing.

I believe Banner's mind is still recovering, kind of like when someone has amnesia. Yes, he's still one of the 5 smartest men on the planet, but he has yet to regain all of his intellect that would allow him to create advanced technology like weapons, mechanisms, and Banner-tech based devices. Hulk, the on the other hand, is just as smart but in different ways than that of science and technology.

Hulk is vastly intelligent, cunning, perceptive, psychological. He's like Hannibal Lecter, minus the cannibalism. He can see right through you, displaying an omniscience that's quite chilling. He may many things that Banner and other beings in the Marvel Universe do not.

He may have more knowledge when it comes to mysticism, cosmic, the supernatural and other forces within the Marvel Omniverse. All of that combined with his high-end power with it's potential to be truly infinite make this Hulk the most frightening and intriguing incarnation/person/version we have ever seen. For all we know, this may be the TRUE Hulk, and all the others have come before or will appear are simply those splintered off from this one and, in some cases, merged with aspects of Bruce Banner.

It's definitely an interesting topic of conversation.

I really like to see Devil Hulk explore, there is on Pak story's between Civil War II (in Totally Awesome Hulk) than i really enjoy, Banner feeling the guilty and this real monster inside of him sleeping and waiting the time right.

Finally got the chance to read this issue (have been very busy), and I absolutely loved it! This Hulk is all that I want a Hulk to be, Powerful, and dangerously smart. Ewing is doing a fantastic job, and the horror angle is wonderful. Cannot wait for all the issues to come; I hope Ewing stays on this title at least until LGY#800!

The one part I wonder about is; "I can smell a liar". He has used that twice now. If he keeps it up, it might be a new catch phrase that stays will Hulk for a long time. I kind of like it. It's like; "Those who know fear, burn at the Man-Things touch".

Has; "Madder Hulk gets, the stronger he gets" a thing of the past? I still like that he has no limit to his power, but maybe a new catch phrase is in order.
Thank you to everyone that told me which Avengers issues to get. I will be buying them very soon!
