When people say Iron Man, do they mean "I am Iron Man", or Jackson showing up as Fury?

    (both are good IMO)

The former, I believe, as it 'ends' the film, while the other's a post-credit film. For example, Will and Elizabeth kissing ended The Curse Of The Black Pearl, but the monkey and the medallion was an extra.

That probably belongs to a different category of endings that made the movie, i.e., movies that would have been bad, boring or just forgettable without an ending that elevates the whole thing. In an entirely different genre but of the same ilk, I'd add Christophe Honoré's French family drama Dans Paris, which is mostly about whining, obnoxious, nearly intolerable brothers until the closing 10 minutes, which transform the rest of the movie.

No hate. I definitely regard DKR as the weakest of the three, but I did like seeing that Bruce and Selena get a happy ending. Above all, it was true to that film series: that interpretation of Batman had been out to accomplish something specific, and to turn civilization back over to civilized people afterward. Best of all was Alfred just going on his way with a smile. Nothing over sold.

Can't believe I didn't think of that, as it has what I consider to be the best final spoken lines I have ever heard in a movie.

GORDON: I never said thank you.
BATMAN: And you'll never have to.

"Legends of the Fall." After a lifetime of violence and pain, Tristan leaves behind a successful family as his spirit animal the bear comes to take him home. "It was a good death." Seriously, even if you're not a Brad Pitt fan if you have never seen this movie go and track it down.

"Fire in the Sky." Whether you believe in UFOs and alien abduction or not, and if you do then whatever you might think of this movie's treatment of the true story it dramatizes, the ending was satisfying. After Travis and Mike's friendship is ripped apart by what they've gone through, they reconcile at the site of the big event-

"Let's get going. You gotta go to work, and..."
    "And what?"
"And I'd like to get the hell outta here before they come back."
"Oh, they won't be back. I don't think they liked me."
    (Laughter.)

One movie which hasn't been mentioned is 12 Monkeys.

When I originally watched it, it thought it was just ok....An interesting variation of a post-apocalyptic world, and a group making attempts to change history .

But when the ending occurred, I was wowed....The resolution gave the film a certain level of gravitas I wasn't expecting. Bruce Willis was essentially stuck in a time loop, and no matter how many times they try, that group can't alter the course of history to save humankind from what occurred.

    THERE WILL BE BLOOD

    "I'm FINISHED"

Last 15 minutes of that film are pure bliss.

How has no one mentioned the ending to Star Wars yet? A celebration of triumph over overwhelming odds with John Williams providing the music? It remains one of my all time favorite movies endings.

    No, they're just not.

I took the post to be a trollish attempt listing three lame movies.

Could be, or it could be that they feel that way genuinely.

In YOUR opinion, they're not, in evangelions', they could well be.

Lot of people I say like Monster Squad, not sure about Doom.

Yet again, all a matter of opinion and perspective, so maybe they were genuine, or messing about, or poking them.

    We just don't know.

True. BTW they were posted by Penny D not evangelion.

Inclusion of Mac and me, used by Paul Rudd as a joke whenever he is on Conan, makes me think it's not serious.

I would happily hear why Penny thinks these are great movies that nailed the ending.
