    Happy Birthday Ron Wilson!!!

    Master of Kung Fu 21
    "Season of Vengeance..."
    Story by Doug Moench
Art by Ron Wilson and Al Milgrom
    Colors by Stan Goldberg
    Letters by John Costanza
Cover by John Romita, Ron Wilson, and Mike Esposito

Shang-Chi swims ashore, after having escaped Demmy Marston’s casino-yacht. S-C walks alone in Miami, and finds himself at a marine-animal park. S-C enjoys the company of a cavorting dolphin – until an assassin’s bullet (meant for S-C) cuts the creature down.

In a sudden rage, S-C flings himself into direct confrontation with the shooters, then chooses instead to dive into a pool to escape the reach of their weapons.

S-C’s next challenge is the shark inhabiting the pool – S-C is able to beat the animal senseless, but exhausts his air supply in the process. S-C reaches the surface, and is abruptly rendered unconscious by a Marston minion. S-C awakes to find himself tied to a tree, and is subjected to a beating by Marston, who chooses to blame S-C for the death of his girlfriend (last issue).

Marston’s henchmen are taken by surprise, and routed, by members of the cult of Si-Fan, sent by Fu Manchu himself.
Fu kills Marston (with a bite from a pet viper), and slices S-C free of his bonds, stating “Only Fu Manchu may choose the moment of your death.” S-C falls to the ground, beaten and exhausted.

Lots'a' Gulacy-love in this thread, which is only proper since he's an under-appreciated artist these days - he really does deserve more attention.

With that said - even though I thought MoK #18-19 that featured the intro of Gulacy to the series, and the guest-appearance by MAN-THING(!) were really rad back in the day, I think I always slightly preferred Starlin's work on the character...

So, here's some Jim Starlin, the Hands of Shang-Chi - MASTER of Kung Fu. : )

Am I the only one really wanting to see Battleworld S-C the next time he shows up in the mainstream?

Shang Chi vs. Tak is one of my favorite fights ever. Starlin is a master of storytelling...

    Hi Mantis Girl 94,

What do you think of these scans from Master Of Kung Fu #48? (Published in 1976)

The ending looks quite good! Any scans of the next battle with Shaka Kharn?

I really came across shang chi for the first time because I like Tao from Xen in Earth-x.

I'd really love to see a story arc where every few pages in the issue he's in at least 1 post apocalyptic future as Tao.
In my opinion I'd like to see it in film, literally setting him up as a hero of destiny. Aside from that I really think he's a great character with a rich history.

With all the talk about him in the iron fist thread I really wanted to give props and respect to the Master of Kung fu.
My priority is enjoying and supporting stories of timeless heroism and conflict.
    Everything else is irrelevant.

I've got a ton of those.

Will post a selection once I get a chance.

It's a shame Shang chi has been demoted down to iron fist's ethnic friend especially when iron fist himself could have been a wonderful opportunity to diversify the marvel u but at least he might get a Netflix series out of it, which will be nice. There's a lot of potential there
