Astro City Omnibus/Collection?

I dabbled in the title for the first few issues, but I rarely buy floppies or 4-8 issue trades anymore. Did they ever do an omnibus or collection of either the original or modern series? Secondly, could I walk into the current series without having read all the prior minis? I only read the first 6 issues, but have heard the original series was all miniseries.
