When I was just getting into comics, the Chip Kidd-covered edition of Batman Year One was probably the first HC I bought, but I didn't buy it BECAUSE it was a hardcover. After that, the first printing of the Miller Daredevil Omnibus was my first BIG comics purchase.

Watchmen Deluxe Edition. not only my first HC, but, ordered together with Locke & Key TPBs, my first comic book in general. i never actually intended to get into collecting, just wanted to have those books. things kind of snowballed from there.

Mine, comic-wise, was a MMW of Sub-Mariner, I believe. A golden age collection. Bless Bill Everett.

This was the first hardcover I bought ten years back (which I didn't realize until just now and kind of blows my mind). I'd been collecting trades for a few years to that point, and even after that one it wasn't until I got the Brubaker Captain America omnibus in 2008 that I started collecting them seriously.

    Have a good day.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. Birthday present from my parents in 1987(?). One of the few hardcovers I had in my collection, until a few years ago when the OHC/Omnibus/Absolute bug finally got me.

My first Marvel HC was a MMW of Spidey...think it was the first 10 issues or something like that. I got it for $7 thereabouts

Mine was either first Hellboy LE or the first TMNT Ultimate Collection. Not sure, but probably Hellboy.

Silver Age Green Lantern Omnibus Vol 1. Wasn't too much of a fan of it back then but I haven't read it in a few years so maybe I'll enjoy it a bit better now a days

A German copy of Silver Surfer by Stan Lee/Moebius back in the very early 90s. Expensive as hell for me back then, but so worth it.
