Addressed to the original poster and anyone else curious:

If you end up liking the first ten Gen X comics, I'd say you're safe to expand it to the first 25 plus the Annuals (okay, some of those are bad, lol, but I really like Generation X Annuals '95 & '99, and some parts of the others... except '96). The first issue of Larry Hama's run is #33, so if you really want to push your luck, read up to #32. After Larry Hama's run is over, the quality picks up again, but never reaches the level that was there before.

But again, you're really pushing it at that point, lol. I own all 75 issues of Generation X, plus Specials, Annuals, etc. and I don't regret it, but if you're just looking for the "best" stuff, I'd say the first 25 issues of Generation X plus Annual '95 (and Annual 1999 if you're a Jubilee fan).

I love the 90s X-Men, but it was time when the series began to bloat... a problem that even through House of M has never really gone away.

My question is... are the Avengers currently the X-Men of the 90s? At the height of their popularity, bloated with characters and titles, etc. As a fan will you look back and enjoy your time as reader or despise it for its popularity?
I was trying to do too much and not doing any of it as well as I could. But I've had a change of mind... though not everyone shall enjoy it. I will.
