What I found interesting was that the list was mostly a "kill" list and most everything was closing doors instead of opening new ones.

yep, Didio is known for the shock values like deaths. and people wonder why DC sales went down.

I knew there was people at DC trying to end lois and clark marriage, so it was Didio that proposed it in 2005. NO MARRIAGEs. another example of closing doors

Maybe the old hit list will be used for the multiverse event after the anti-monitor vs darkseid war.

Wasn't the DCU created with a few prominent deaths and didn't sales improve afterward?

It's the same mindset that gave us Hal Jordan as a mass murderer and the rape/death of Sue Dibney. Simply dreadful.

BTW, before anybody mentions it here, Dick Grayson would never, ever have been permanently killed off (or even Barry Allen gone). More like Clark-and-Bruce gone.

    I agree.

My personal opinion (and this is my personal opinion) is that I prefer heroes as heroes and villains as villains.
There should be a gray area but heroes should never go completely dark and villains should never go completely light.

I bet you may see some of it in Convergence.
I'm guessing the list of plot points given to the writers consisted mostly of "kill xxx, kill xxx, destroy xxx"

Dc probably just needs good writers who can tell good stories without the need to rely on mutilating characters and or killing characters. Maybe rely more on reboots to boost sales rather than on gimmick deaths and beheadings.
