I think for a while it was one of their top sellers. They have so much more to choose from since that shirt was introduced. They have a great variety of characters available.

My favorite recent Doom was the first arc in Brubaker's The Winter Soldier. Doom and Nick Fury Sr. were at each other's throats. It was a lot of fun.
That was a great opening arc. I wish Brubaker was still at Marvel. I enjoyed his take on Doom. In that story, I liked that Doom finally got to meet the Prime Minister that was chosen to taken his place, Lucretia von Bardas. I'd like to see her return. Her past is pretty mysterious.

I've been disappointed with the lack of Doom in NA. I keep thinking maybe that multiverse version might be the only one Hickman will show. We still don't know what Doom found out after the incursion that occurred over Latveria. And no jobbing! We had enough to last a lifetime in FF#16!

The Doom 2099 figure is one I made from an extra 10-inch Dr Doom:

It was my first effort at custom toy building, it doesn't bear too close scrutiny, but I gave it a shot since it seemed like we were never going to get a Doom 2099 figure (and still probably won't).

The prints going up the stairs are simply 5x7 glossy photo prints from digital files I've collected, many of which are comic book cover art from various sources. Here's three more I added this afternoon to the Den of Madness™ below the massive Doom poster

I started out printing them myself, but the local CVS does a better job and will probably be more durable than my color photo printer, and only costs a buck-seventy a print.

Thanks again all for the kudos. It was and will continue to be a lifelong endeavor.

You did a great job on the custom Doom 2099, DS. I think the only figure sold of him was the tiny version in a Heroclix set.

I remember seeing that Doom poster by Mike McKone at the local LCS. Normally, I don't like it when Doom's eyes aren't correctly colored brown but I have to admit to liking the green eyed version.

These past few weeks we've had some pretty good if brief glimpses of Doom. Besides the cool splash page in the Fantastic Four recently, this week the She Hulk story concluded. I was relieved that Charles Soule gave us a more balanced version of Doom than we got from Fraction and Lee Allred (*ugh* on that one in particular). Instead of fisticuffs, Jennifer gets to the heart of the matter by acting as mediator between father and son. Kristoff comes across much better this issue and we don't so much of the spoiled kid from issue #3. It's good to see the more human side of Doom once in a while and Soule gives us a Doom who really seems to be trying to raise Kristoff with the best of intentions. It's very typical of a parent who was grew up poor to try and make up for it with their own child. Props also to Doom for calling him his son and not bringing up that Kristoff was adopted. The one part I still don't like is the indy style artist on the title. Everything looks like something from a children's book...the Doombots don't look like they would even intimidate a 6 year old. Apparently Doom still does find She-Hulk very attractive. He tells Kristoff that he has good taste in servants, much to her indignation.

Interesting. I've been meaning to pick up this series, and this will make sure I do so. The art is far more stylized than I prefer, but it may suit the book. Will have to see.

Should be interesting to see if Robinson uses Kristoff too.

Did we ever get an artist on the Doom Original SinS story Robinson is doing?

If people wonder if Doom found She-Hulk attractive in the past, yes he did. It was in that classic FF issue where he tricked them into breaching his embassy so he (in another body that was denied entry) could enter and start the process of reconstructing his true body. He admired her sensuality and sense of humor, as this was their first up-close meeting.

And in FF#260 where Doom's body was destroyed he was able to do the mind transfer trick. Too bad no one ever did a What If story where he didn't end up in bystander Norman McArthur's body and ended up in Aunt May's instead!

There are some characters that Doom has had very few encounters with and She Hulk is one of those. She-Hulk has had the unfortunate distinction of meeting Doom's distant American cousin, Dr. Bob Doom the dentist! I think he in Dan Slott's She-Hulk, he even called her up.

No and I am not even sure what issue it's going to be in. The first issue of Original Sin just has the team of Jason Aaron and Mike Deodato but I wonder if future issues will have shared stories done by different creative teams. Fantastic Four #7 is a tie-in with Original Sin but it doesn't mention a separate Doom story as part of the promo description. Those can be wrong though. It has Sue fighting the Avengers on the cover. Marvel should be coming out with the August preview soon.

I like that in Soule's She Hulk title, he really gives equal time to her profession as a lawyer and starting up her business again. The art is not a big selling point for me. Marvel seems to be getting a lot of these indy style artists and Pulido just is too cartoony for me. In some respects this where an artist like John Byrne works. Some of his critics think of him as a bit cartoonish but IMO he's like Kirby in that he can throw some realism in the surroundings, buildings and the rendering of sci fi gadgetry, etc.

Original Sins is a seperate miniseries accompanying the event with two stories per issue. Like AVX Verses was during AVX. I think Doom is one half of issue four, if memory serves it was part of the July solicits.

EDIT: It is issue four and it seems to be three stories per issue. Two unique stories in each issue with a young avengers tale running through all of them. Issue four has James Robinson and Ryan North on writing and Ramon Villalobos and more on art.

I think that is where I am getting confused. The CBR article from April 23rd doesn't mention Robinson at all. And I skipped ahead and found July too. Maybe the text got updated somewhere.

On another note. I mentioned it on the old boards but the poll to vote for "Who Should be the Next Villain to get an Ongoing" is still open until May 18th. For some reason, and I admit I am not a DC reader, Poison Ivy has a clear lead with Doom running second. Heh....maybe I should point out this poll to some folks at Marvel.

It's in the Previews magazine for July. I'm sure Robinson has talked about what is going to be in it, i.e. Mephisto and the Galactus corpse.

Oh, I see. I didn't pick up one of those. I meant to mention also that the Marvel website's comic book release calendar is probably one of the worst sources of information. I think they must have a very small IT dept or something. It was never all the great but it certainly could be better.

I do remember the interview with Robinson mentioning those plot elements. On the old board (soon to disappear forever I guess!) we were speculating why Doom would want to have anything to do with Mephisto since he and Stephen Strange had a narrow escape from him before.

Iron Maiden, wish I had been able to start this thread again like before but I didn't get to. Still, its nice to know that some of the old guard are still on here. I guess my two Doom contributions are wishing that Marvel would finally give a mega-sized Doom event that will have massive ramifications, etc.

The other is how much I long for a proper cinematic Doom that should be able to send chills, evoke great imagery AND dialogue...and as long as the rights are at Fox, that will never be...Winter Soldier looked the part, kept dialogue to a minimum and was SO effective. His animated adventures lately on Avengers Assemble have nailed the Doom personality to a "T" with great lines like "It is Doom whose destiny shall be fulfilled...or that great speech that he gave to "Iron Skull" where he said "Your pathetic attempts at this so called Cabal and this conversation are over! My destiny begins!"

"No trick Stark...I control this weapon and in doing so, will fulfill my obligation to rule the world with an iron hand!"

Stark: Doom! This is insane...even for you!
Doom: Let history be my judge...NEVER! IT IS MY DESTINY!

    Damn, I love him! LOL

Hi there, Doom ATNM! Yes everyone was caught unawares of the big change. Unfortunately it is an all to frequent occurrence of a few miscreants ruining things for everyone else.

I've not seen all of the animated appearances but they have certainly been better than what we got from Fox studios movies. I had the same feelings as you did when I saw "Winter Soldier". If Doom were in the hands of Marvel Studies....things would be so much different.

Here's a dual tribute for a Happy Mother's day and for Astonishing Tales #8 where Doom's quest to redeem his mother's soul was first revealed. Ed Brubaker chose this story as for one of the contributions to the Gene Colan Tribute issue printed in 2008. Story by Gerry Conway and Gene Colan.(1971)
