I don't know why people feel like this is such a strange concept. If you apply just a bit of "executive think" to it, it makes perfect sense.

Of course this being Hollywood, after the taxing job of "being creative" they then proceeded to snort cocaine or whatever the hip new drug is, but that had nothing to do with the creative process...sadly.
I was referring to the neon paint job of it all but I guess now it's become a Hollywood go-to after the success of Into the Spider-Verse and Arcane.

Bendis is a mediocre writer who comes up with an interesting concept, half asses the execution but they sound like good elevator pitches and it sucks in gullible new readers. Later somebody more talented than him figures how to actually make it workable. What was Avengers Disassembled besides a rehash of Roger Stern's 'Under Siege' and Bryne's story with Wanda? Jessica Jones, WandaVision and Civil War only worked because more talented writers were working on them. Even his big Superman story arc of Clark revealing his identity is drawn from earlier story arcs. Only thing he wrote worth giving a damn was Ultimate Spider-Man.

The point was they can keep changing her cultural identity to something she hasn't been depicted as before. I never said she didn't have diverse depictions in the comics already, so I'm not sure what the point of your comment was.

Not only that but a marvel avengers member is in rescue rangers also so marvel and dc in the same movie!

Keep in mind rescue rangers was planned for theatres first.

Also a few 80s cartoon heroes with one having strong dc ties shows up as well.

Um... okay. I never found her to be funny so I guess this could potentially change my mind. I hope.

Leslie Jones as "Plastic?" May as well just make it an original IP.

I don't think this is the Plastic Man cartoon anybody wanted.

Ughhhh. I really dont find her funny. The “everything is funny if it’s yelled” schtick is just brutal.

Why not just do an Elasti-Girl series? Doesn't Rita have similar powers?

Yeah, basically I think the only difference between her, Ralph, and Plas is that Plas is a little more malleable in what he can form into, although it's not always consistent.

Guess the moral of the story is you no longer need to directly adapt specific characters that originated from the comics, just make a new character that uses the same superhero name or has a similar backstory and cast a comedian. Who cares about Eel O'Brian or Ralph Dibny, just have Leslie Jones hijack the mantle. Might as well finally bring in Jack Black as GL too.
