DC Media: TV Shows, Animated Movies and Video Games

I've been wondering something. We know WB Animation got their budget slashed, which is why they've been so adamant on reusing the New 52 designs. With the new DC Universe offering another way to monetize their movies, is it possible the animation side might get a budget increased? Better movies would make people more inclined to check out their service after all.

In terms of costs-it's cheaper to use the designs you already have versus do all new ones-especially if you are using the same folks over and over again.

Same with toys-it's cheaper to toss a new paint on a figure (like we saw with GI Joe's Tiger Force & Python Patrol in the 80s or the WWE toys-too forever to see a Xavier Woods figure with chest hair) than make a new mold.

So even if those films do well-unless you have a story that required a costume change-like Static-he has 5 costumes to run through if you did his origin. You won't see new designs.

Gotham by Gaslight is the only one I haven't seen. So I'll get back to you with my thoughts on it.

This is the time to be a comic book fan! Whoever thought, 20 years ago (heck, even 10 yrs ago), that we are going to get all of these movies, shows and so forth!

I just hope that these shows/movies encourages at least a few people to check out the actual comics - we definitely need more readers.

They said the show isn't going to be replacing the Fontana series, just "expanding" the brand, more or less.

Damian showing up is weird because I don't think Batman would be old enough in this setting to have a kid, let alone a sidekick. I don't think he's even supposed to be Batman yet.

I always felt that it'd be a good idea to make the Supersons into DCSHG for boys. Try to go the same route and have them cater for that same audience so this is a huge step in the right direction imo.
Bruce isn't Batman yet Batgirl is running around with a bat and Dick's TT team mates are running around. Somehow I don't think this Show cares.
I also don't think the target audience care.

Not sure if this is the thread to ask, but does anybody know how "new" the comics that are going to be available on the streaming service will be? I want to decide if waiting a few months to read stories is cheaper than buying trades and individual issues.

I don't think they've said for certain yet. I'm good with that; honestly I really just want access to The Retrin Of Barry Allen, Emerald Knights, Blitz, and No Man's Land for "free." I'm getting the thing for Young Justice anyway, and the library of shows and movies is still going to be exquisite.
