I don't think you need to be that dark with Green Lantern, let alone Watchmen.

Sinestro's journey being darker obviously makes sense. Simon, Jessica and now Alan's origin stories touch on relevant topics so I don't really mind a more serious take on those as well. A "darker" take on Guy is something I have no interest in seeing.

Sinestro's journey being darker obviously makes sense. Simon, Jessica and now Alan's origin stories touch on relevant topics so I don't really mind a more serious take on those as well. A "darker" take on Guy is something I have no interest in seeing.

I think there's a difference between treating it serious and being "dark," especially when WB have in the past made things far darker than they needed to be for an adaption.

This rumor reminds me of the bad old days before studios had faith in the comic book source material.

Im sure it also has to do with the lingering effect of the Green Lantern movie. WB execs apparently still get a cold shiver down their spine at the mention of “Green Lantern”. In typical WB fashion, their answer is to make it DARKER!

Ultimately it comes down to quality, not tone. That said, the Watchmen sequel show had Damon Lindelof, one of the best TV showrunners of all time. Green Lantern is another Greg Berlanti production. So I'm not expecting it to be anywhere near Watchmen quality and am putting my expectations at watchable lol

There have been rumors the show could be connected to the GLC movie that's supposedly still in development, similar to how Peacemaker is connected to The Suicide Squad, or GPD is to The Batman, and allegedly that's why Hal and John were not allowed to be a part of it, but it's unknown at this point if there's any truth to that.
