So, here are some possibilities:
1) Flash goes back and saves his mother, results in Flashpoint.
2) Rip Hunter comes back in time to deal with Eobard (Wells), and his meddling with the time line.
3) Rip hunter rescues Black Canary (original), and that causes drastic changes in the timeline. Although, I am not exactly sure why Rip would do that.
4) Alternate Earth Show (E2 of the TVverse).

season 3 seemed to have dropped in quality when compared to the previous seasons. and arrow does a lot of borrowing of characters from batman and the flash. they could have made komodo, or vertigo, brick even, as more formidable opponents. an adaption of the outsider war could have been an interesting plot. now the show is headed for the arrow: son of the demon route.
