The next Earth One volume will be the third Superman book in the line, and the conclusion of the story writer J. Michael Straczynski began in Volume One. Illustrated by artist Ardian Syaf, Volume Three will introduce Lex Luthor and his sister Alexandra—who have been asked to bring Superman down by the US Military.It’s a pretty grim and gritty take clearly meant to appeal to Man of Steel fans. The seams on the costume remind me a lot of the Arkham video games. So that's two aspects of the preview that make me think Batman right away.

I started laughing, genuinely and happily, when I saw this and didn't stop through the whole preview.

It's like...my hate for Superman: Earth One is biblical, but its like that one issue of Astro City with Samaritan meeting his arch-nemesis once a year for lunch: you can't feel so strongly for so long without forming an attachment that goes beyond love or hate. God help me, seeing this felt like welcoming an old friend home, and I'll definitely check it out of the library some day, if only because hating this is more fun than liking most other comics.

Weird seeing anyone other than Shane Davis do this, but it was a relief to have Clark performing an unprovoked total dick move by the third page. As I said, like welcoming an old friend home.

I'm looking forward to it. I enjoyed the first two volumes. Ardian Syaf, who's pencils are amazing on BATMAN/SUPERMAN, seems like a natural fit for this book.
