Default iPad Mini 2 v.s. Kindle Fire HD for reading comics?

Ipad Mini 2 or a Kindle Fire HD for reading comics?

Fire has an 8.9 and mini has a 7.9. Not sure if the mini has the same hi res as the Fire.

    Can anyone attest to either?

You're gonna want a full-sized tablet for comics. An Android Tablet is fine, but I wouldn't go with any Kindle. Amazon's App store is more limited than Google Play and offers less comics options. There's no native version of the Dark Horse app, for example, you have to go through a workaround.

Was thinking an Air might do the job but kind of expensive....

My entire collection .cbr on externals, so app's and all the other stuff really do not matter.

Then just get the cheapest, largest Android tab with a good screen that you can find. Ipad's advantage is in the ecosystem. I'd try to find something bigger and more open than the Fire, though. Also something that'll let you add an SD card or other external storage.

The main thing to remember is that 'size matters.'
