    82 SPIDER-MAN 2099 #12 $3.99 MAR

We really haven't had active sales threads for several years, but some interesting things have happened to the industry.

If ICV2 estimates are reasonably accurate, things are better at the bottom. In April 2015 (May estimates aren't in yet), the 100th best-selling comic sold over 30,000 copies. In April 2011, it was an estimated 17,740 copies.

My only real surprises from that last are how well both Spider-Gwen and Silk are still doing 4 issues in. Spider-Woman is better than a 75th ranked comic IMO (though not as consistently entertaining as either Spider Gwen or Silk).

I expect RYV to come in the top five.

They have RYV #1 at over 200K. My estimates were way on the conservative side as it seems to have outsold the opening issues of Spider-Verse by quite a large number.

Blew away a lot of expectations here. I was thinking somewhere between Spider Verse and Superior, but issue one beat both. I know thats orders but retailers would have to have had large consumer demand to order so much. My local comic shop was completely out of issue 1 yesterday. Maybe they didnt order enough. I also guess the variants helped too.

Lets hope those in charge at Marvel pay attention to these sales figures and give us another miniseries or better yet an AU ongoing sometime down the road. *crosses fingers*

I'd at least like the latter. If we can have an AU where Gwen has Super Powers, I think an AU based on RYV would also work long term.

I really dont think so. to me Issue 2 is setting up something bad ether the Symbiote is under the bed and will kill someone, or Peter will die and Annie grew up as Spider-Woman of that world. All I know this wont end well and will probably be another middle finger from marvel.

I'll say this much. If there is no way to continue this tale moving forward, I'll be very upset with those in charge of Marvel.

PS It is nice to see another Power Rangers fan on these boards, go go Power Rangers.

To put in context the sales of RNY, Old Man Logan #1, another highly promoted Secret Wars tie-in with A-list characters and a major creative team, is estimated to have sold about 114,000 copies.

This is just crushing the sales numbers, how many (realistically) would they have to sell before marvel realizes they're probably losing money by not keeping this going? Or at least building a storyline in ASM after secret wars that builds to this. How many times do the fans have to react overwhelmingly before we get what we want?

You know Marvel is not entitled to you guys, And Superior Spider-Man made the same amount of numbers. I wish Spider-Man made as much as Batman and was constantly number 1.

    ...........What?

Since 2011 ASM and SSM have sold just as well as Batman comics, and vice versa.

And a comic being number 1 in sales without being an event or a new #1 is hard if not impossible.

The overwhelming success of Dark Knight Returns didn't lead to an old Batman book.

But these sales do make some kind of follow-up inevitable.

DKR wasn't a tie-in to a mega event crossover that set out to redefine the DCU.
