    Doc Ock first, then Green Goblin and Kraven and Lizard tied for third.

    I found this old thread I started back in 2015 (four years and ten days ago) and thought it might be interesting to dig it up again for anybody not around back then.

    At the last check, the results so far show:
    * Green Goblin (Norman Osborn) = 18 votes
    * Doctor Octopus (Otto Octavius, "Doc Ock")= 14 votes
    * Mysterio (Quentin Beck) = 12 votes
    * Sandman (Flint Marko) = 9 votes
    * Scorpion (Mac Gargan) = 9 votes
    * Vulture (Adrian Toomes)= 9 votes
    * Kraven the Hunter (Sergei Kravinoff) = 7 votes
    * Electro (Max Dillon) = 6 votes

    all other choices had less than 5 votes.

    And nobody chose the "Circus of Crime" yet.

    Not that any of them matches the classics, but why wasn't Undertaker (Amazing Fantasy #16), Joey Pulaski (Amazing Fantasy #17), Supercharger (Amazing Fantasy #18), Scorcher (Untold Tales Of Spider-Man #1), Spacemen (Untold Tales of Spider-Man #4), or Clash (Amazing Spider-Man: Ready To Crawl) there in place of some of the 1964 poll articles?

    Since when do comic books not published until more than thirty years later count as "earliest foes"?

    If that's the case, ALL of the poll choices could eventually be retconned away into "Later Foes". Besides, Spider-Man as a character was well-developed by the 1990s, as opposed to those early 1960s Lee & Ditko classic stories when he was actually just developing.

    Doc Ock and Mysterio are my absolute favorite Spider-Man villains. Though I have always had a soft spot for the Enforcers.

    Several nice characters on the list, but I just choose the GG. It was the only one for which Ditko had a plan in store, and it showed.

    Goblin. Just saw him as pure evil right from the start. As a kid he was the only one I thought might actually kill Spidey.

    While Doc Ock is my favorite Spiderman villain over all. it is the Vulture that is the first Bad Boy I feel for. I dont know why but his sotries always drew me in. It helps that the early Stories with Blackie Drago Vulture rank as my favorite Spiderman stories of all time.
