Outback Era
Excalibur 1st team.
Claremont's Outback. Classic, iconic, etc.
Claremont's X-Treme. Underrated everywhere else but this forum.
Carey's original adjectiveless X-Men team stocked with villains. I wish we could have seen them on more adventures before the betrayal.
Brubaker's space adventure team in Uncanny. First and last time I cared about those characters.
Hmmmmm... I have three favourites:
- Bendis' current team in Uncanny X-men
- Brian Wood's original all female team in X-men (when Kitty and Rogue were in it)
- Gillen's Extinction team in Uncanny X-men
Rogue, Frenzy, Gambit, Magneto, Legion, Prof X
Rachel, M, Psylocke, Storm, Karima, Jubilee
Rogue, Nightcrawler, Blindfold, Magneto, Husk, Colossus, Trance, Psylocke
Pixie, Colossus, Storm, Domino, Psylocke
Mama, Armor, Beast, Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm
Mama, Cyclops, Dazzler, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Pixie, Beast
Yara Flor & Emma "Mama" Frost stan account
1) Whedon & Cassaday era Astonishing X-Men line-up (Cyclops, Emma Frost, Wolverine, Kitty, Beast, Colossus)
2) Blue team (Cyclops, Rogue, Wolverine, Psylocke, Beast, Gambit, Jubilee)
3) Pryde of the X-Men (Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler, Dazzler, Wolverine, Colossus, Kitty Pryde)
I pretty much like most of the teams that have Cyclops in it. Wolverine was obviously the badass character that I'd would like in pretty much all X-Men line-ups, but his character has gone down considerably throughout the years)
Perfect line-up (the one I'd go with if I could actually write a quality X-book):
Cyclops
Storm
Wolverine
Rogue
Psylocke
Nightcrawler
Cannonball
Gambit
Colossus

This is hard for me. I love the X-men but I have a hard time thinking of one specific team that does it for me.
-I really like bendis's current uncanny team. I like the core 4 of Cyclops, Emma, Magik, and Mags, plus I like the newbies and I wish we would get more of that team becoming an actual team.
-Astonishing (Whedon) was a good line-up, but I feel like the relationships were too static because it was all classics in fairly stable situations. I think a good team needs a wildcard.
-The blue/gold mashup was a fun line-up even if it didn't have great stories and produced no one's particularly best moments.
ANAD & New-Mutants-era Claremont.
I was actually excited for the Chuck Austen roster, but the execution was so very lacking.
I am 90s guy so this is heavily skewed to the 90s.
1. Blue Team - Just a great mix of characters, personalities, and powers and of course it helps that many of them formed the base for the XTAS team.
2. X-treme X-men team - Mainly because I love how Storm, Bishop, and Sage interact with Gambit and also because there was limited Romy angst.
3. The Dynamic Duo - Gambit and lil Storm thieving their way across the country.
4. O5 - They are where it all began so gotta pay homage to them for that reason alone.
5. ANAD - Pretty much the time that brought the X-men back to prominence.
It's hard for me to listen to someone not in my position. A caterpillar can't relate to what an eagle envisions.
For me, can't beat the Claremont/Byrne era with Cyclops, Phoenix, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, Colossus, Professor X and Storm.
This one's hard for me because I recently went back and read these issues and this is a REALLY good team. I'm inclined to not choose it because it's missing tons of my favorite characters (Cable, Psylocke, Magik, Emma, etc) but at the same time when you read the issues it's just a really well-balanced group that plays well off of each other.
