Which they explained by having Sue be adopted. But you're right, it would've made more sense for either Reed, or both Johnny and Sue to be black, not just Johnny. The only one who isn't meant to be a family member by blood or marriage is Ben.

Something amusing to me about those Greg Land recap pages was that I remember seeing everyone (the lineup of the four) of those faces within a few issues of each other in Gillen's Iron man run. So to me he made Reed Richards look like Tony Stark who Greg Land made look like whatever porn he traced it from.

Why is Medusa, Queen of the Shithumans, there instead of Sue? Geez, talk about one step forward, two steps backwards...

As for the casting, I'll take the classic versions, thank you very much. No genderbending, no racebending, no sexbending, just the classics. Only thing I'd like is if they took some inspiration from the Ult!U and made Sue a biologist. Apart from that, give me blonde Storms, gruff an' lovable Ben and pipe-smoking, 60s-looking Reed. Let's hope Marvel can snag Jon Hamm for Richards, really.

Sue was out of team for half of 1975 (not pregnant IRRC, just taking care of baby Franklin after Reed kinda-sorta lobotimized him), having left in... the early 140s/mid 130s? But yeah, she rejoined in 160. Still, why not use another time period then? What's the point of putting the F3 plus Medusa instead of the F4? I don't like it...

Sue and Johnny need a strong brother/sister relationship. That has to be shown in a movie for it to be valid and powerful enough to fit into the FF mythos. In an FF movie, I think you need a reason why you just couldn't throw four random Avengers out there. Family is that quality. Would an adopted sibling have the same effect on the general public especially since they're different races?

I've got my opinions on what an FF movie needs. Convincing people these four have been close even before getting their powers makes them more than Tony, Steve, Bruce, and Tasha listening to Nick. It's even possible that an interracial Storm family forces creators to emphasize the family relationship more. Yes, America realizes that interracial siblings do exist, but it's not that common.

They never really explained the adoption in the Trank movie did they? I don't know where I read it but I thought it was more like Sue was a daughter from another marriage? And that wife died so he adopted her. Maybe her bio dad had died already. There certainly was no great attachment shown between Johnny and Sue in that movie.

Nothing that deep... she was a war orphan, they never went beyond that.
