it was always 3 issues. actually, i think originally it might have been discussed as 4, but it was cut down to 3 a loooong time ago, for reasons that had absolutely nothing to do with CW or any other marvel titles.

Yes, Ben is right.
Way back when I originally put this arc together, I wanted (and designed) this arc to be 4 issues but we turned it into 3 issues for a variety of reasons long ago (and none of the reasons had anything to do with CW2). Writers (and probably artists?) always like more pages/panels if they can get them but in order to fit everything in for this arc we ended up cutting another character that was originally going to join the team for this arc only...that's how we were able to fit everything in...it's a bit tighter than I'd like, but that happens all the time in comics I'm afraid.
So, yes, Tiamatty is right on, this arc (issues 5, 6, & 7) takes place BEFORE CW2. Our CW2 arc is issues 8, 9, and 10.
Well that 's comforting then. Again, I've been digging how A-Force hasn't "ignored" secret wars and keeps pulling elements from it ... it makes the story arcs feel more natural when they aren't completely forgotten by next arc, you know? Hopefully we'll be "feeling" the CW2 arc as well.
Again ... feel free to keep Dazzler Thor around as long as possible. No complaints here ....
I'm interested in Kelly Thompson's characterization of Monica Rambeau (Spectrum) on the team!
I'd love to see her dynamic within a group of such strong personalities.
That's harsh. I can see where he has at times veered in that direction but I don't think Siqueria is anywhere near as (necessarily) cheesecake-y as Benes was on his BOP run.
Plenty of images on his DeviantArt feed show women as stong feminine but not overly fan service-y. He's even capable of different body types which is a rare skill these days.

He gets a shot, in my book.

Nice of you to keep supporting A-Force! I will keep loving the book, but I hope you come back someday.
On another topic: Just found out Paulo Siqueira is a brazilian. Though his name already implies, I just assumed he was from ~any latino spanish speaking country~. I'll try to talk to him in portuguese or something

Blimey! Siqueira's art is very "cheesecake"! I agree with Factor's points about whether this artist fits with A-Force's ethos and feminine perspective....but I'll keep on with the book, and to be honest I'm not going to make a stand on cheesecake art, I do like it, call it a guilty pleasure if you like...as long as plot and characterisation doesn't go out of the window because of it.
That thumbnail pic posted of She-Hulk with Thundra and Valkyrie together is pretty amazing, and powerful.

looking at those deviant art links, I would argue they're not cheesecake. To me, cheesecake is arse shots and cleavage shots all over the place. Sure the women look sexy in the art, but that's not cheesecake. To me, cheesecake is stuff that looks like it's swiped from Playboy or some other porn mag or that looks like it should be painted on the side of a USAAF B-29 bomber in WW2.

Additionally, I'd like to add that context is important.
The posed figure for example, in the torn jeans -- that's Freefall from Gen13, if I'm not mistaken, and I wouldn't say that she is overly sexualized.
The woman scantily clad in the alien's bedroom(?) clearly has meaning behind it.
The She Hulk -- well I can't really speak on that besides arguing that perhaps it was a commission gig for a particular audience. <shrug>
But many comic artists still struggle with overly defining women's breasts as if every clothing article is vaccuum sealing their mammaries.
Its solid figure work. The artist has chops. I believe there is a natural bias for many opposing this artist due to his lack of body-variance(?) compared to the esteemed Caldwell.
This artist's style harkens to a period of comics when all females, regardless of age or stature, found themselves provided with built in flotation devices -- but I don't think we should penalize him for that association until this actual pages explode with nipples and back-breaking-poses.
Viva A-Force!
I'd personally enjoy Emanuela Lupacchino on this title -- similar style, very expressive faces -- and a woman.

Good call on Emanuela Luppachino, Fokken! I just looked her up...I like her work, forgot that I've seen some of it before...she's very pretty herself..but that's just an aside, and not the point...talented artist...

If you've ever seen any of Paulo's earlier work from Ms. Marvel (Carol Danver's series), Superman-Wonder Woman or even some random DC work, his art isn't over-sexualized at all. It's a bit of Adam Hughes and Frank Cho, but toned down, and very natural. His women are never sex objects, but powerful, graceful and just great facial expressions. That and his backgrounds/environments are just amazing! I'm looking forward to his run no matter how long or short. I think he'll bring a strong quality, but respectful too!

I'll take cheesecake if an artist has legit acting chops and his backgrounds are full and eye catching....
Happy birthday kelly thompson!!!image.jpg
