As an official team uniform? Only one uniform that I about two decades ago now that had a red upper body when she was depowered busy fighting the human Magistrates on Genosha.

Yeah, I'm gonna say the Acolyte look doesn't work for her.

Once the guerrilla war ended and she led the army to retake the capital she changed to something more conventional for her. Though in terms of her many bad team uniforms, it was one of the better ones though brief I thought.

For leading men and women fighting with a gun depowered I felt that red uniform was functional.

Ya think that's bad, I'll see JMC's Acolyte outfit, and raise it with her early X-Factor costume:

... which is probably best left forgotten, as it looks like somethin' she put together in the dark, SMH.

I had almost forgotten the gold number she wore a short time in the 1990s had any red on it Heroine. There was an old poster long gone who loved that outfit.

Well I can say her currently blackish looking number is one of her better team costumes and I don't as a rule like team costumes.

It might or might not happen in the near future, but I would agree it will happen in time. The parallels of best friends, but the inheritors of the legacy of two very different men (who were also best friend's) fundamental idealism? Magneto actually does have a great amount of idealism as does Lorna.

But, on its smallest level Havok83 is right even 1993 Lorna would not abide at all Cassandra Nova's existence much less modern Lorna who would be horrified at the idea of keeping her alive. Jean would because that is the core of her values system about building a better world.

Mind you there are shadow issues that Jean is able to break from with Xavier either dead or very different from the man he was. Magneto is very different from the man he was too, but in a way his change makes it somewhat more difficult not less for Lorna. He changed his ideology to something much more akin to the one Lorna's had in 1993 under JM of humans and mutants living side by side while on occasion doing the things conventional heroes refuse to do. Lorna herself has had much more shall we say activist moments the past 25 years then where her father is at the moment.

My personal view on what is happening with Magneto is he is likely getting agitated with the 05 and having to clean up messes they won't or having them go in space for adventures or having to bail them out with Mojo and the world knowing about him. We already know Lorna is getting very annoyed with Jimmy's I am afraid to hurt anyone routine. The new team might take up the banner of the 05 before them just more aggressive or it might do aot of other things.

Regardless one can see from the various posts on CBR that comic Lorna is not seen as a mutant leader or even a potential mutant leader. She is seen as the crazy, the possessed, the girlfriend, the failed concept. But, not someone whose ideas have any merit and changing that mindset is important.

To The Gifted... alot of Eclipse fans are coming to terms with the finale.

Also its more clear how and why Emma's China fan base is growing rapidly in-spite of not being able to watch it by traditional means. They are sharing videos and pictures of the character and Emma has been interacting with them. The character and what she represents matters alot to young Chinese.

This might not be the best costume ever, but I love the idea of Polaris' costumes incorporating metal onto them. It's a smart thing for someone like her or Magneto to do imo, and could be used as a last resort against attackers that they wouldn't be expecting. I loved that they did something like this on The Gifted, with Polaris utilizing the metal on her person, from the metal tipped shoes, to the metal knives she kept on her as well. I wish they would try to incorporate something like that again.

As for Lorna being a leader of a mutant nation, she most definitely has the potential to do something like that. After all, she spent a good chunk of time with Magneto while he was ruling Genosha, and saw how it was done first hand. I still would love to see her and Magneto trying something like this sometime soon. It's a shame that Bunn destroyed what was left of Genosha in his Uncanny run.

We'll have to see fan response to her leading the team in BLUE first. Fans need time to warm up to her, there is still very little consciousness about her overall, most people keep making "Grey Team" lists that don't even include her whatsoever

It heavily comes down to how offensively she is willing to use the metal for a version of Lorna with shields. The Gifted Lorna has no shields and was willing to use shrapnel as an offensive tool of combat. Lorna when the time that outfit was made was willing to use metal defensively, but also had shields that she could bring up immediately half rendering the use of defensive metal shall we say elective.

Either way I agree the use of metal in outfits can be interesting if a way is found to artistically integrate it.

Agreed, also Genosha rose again if Phoenix Resurrection is any indication... or it never really sank.

Lorna trying to protect mutants is the core to what energized her fan base a decade and a half ago and for the TV version its vital to building her growing global popularity now. There is a huge chasm in the X-Men comic universe right now for a legitimate mutant team that isn't trying to achieve Xavier's dream of peaceful coexistence in their own way. The opening is there and it would be a great gift to Red and Gold team if they know it or not, but we will see if they take it.

It would be a win win for different political views among best friends who are trying to save mutants in their own way and getting under each others skin in the process.

Another great addition from China. Her fandom there as in the people with an online presence directly linked up to Emma on various social media platforms is close to half a million. Those interested in Emma/Polaris from China looks to be significantly more then that.

I'm still not sure what the basis for the Chinese fascination is. Is it story/theme based like jmc suggested, they feel trapped by an oppressive society/authoritarian family structure etc?

Or is it just they really like her facial features somehow, I notice the same few images keep getting shared by chinese fans of her, the shower scene, the prison scene, the exiting the car to confront jace scene. Over and over those 3 scenes. Something about her face there seems to excite them, so it could be more of a superficial thing too

I actually wouldn't boil it down entirely to one reason why I think her fandom exploded in China. There are interconnected reasons. The ones I hadn't mentioned is that China is a relatively low penetration society in regards to western TV shows because you need authorization from the party to watch them and rarely ever get that. That means a market where there is huge room for growth.

Emma went the extra mile and received help from Chinese fans before the season build a social media connection to the Chinese masses who are used to Western Entertainers ignoring them or visiting for a day a major city and leaving. The Chinese fans built a fan base for her and worked hard to get out pictures and news to bypass the limits imposed on them and as they did that fan base rapidly expanded. China is also in the middle of a large scale internet purge of websites and ideas deemed contrary to the values of the Communist Party and Socialism.

China Shutters Entertainment News Sites, Citing ‘Socialist Values’ and Cybersecurity

Major social media platform operators including Weibo, WeChat, Youku, Baidu and Netease shut down a large number of social media entertainment news outlets after a June 7 meeting with Beijing's Office of Cyberspace Affairs.

The crackdown has been justified under China's newly implemented Cybersecurity Law, which emphasizes ideological control as a core component of maintaining state security.

    https://advox.globalvoices.org/2017/...cybersecurity/
Enter Lorna a political prisoner with green hair who yes Chinese audiences find very attractive whose actress went the extra mile to communicate with them and fans in China started building her up and suddenly things started exploding in terms of the size and scope of the Chinese fandom. If I had to ask where her biggest online fan base was last Summer I would say the U.S. followed by Brazil. Today its China where they are limited to talking about her, passing around pictures of her and occasionally if they are very lucky some video clips.

What is your view on all the memes and so forth out there seeming to directly equate Lorna with her dad? Like trying to match up her poses and things she said or did in the show with things Magneto has done or said in the movies, showing a green helmet that looks otherwise completely identical to her father's for her, and so on?

On the one hand it kind of raises her stature some and makes her appear "badass" like Magneto BUT. It also runs a risk of making her seem like a sort of imitation you know? She needs to be differentiated more imo.
