    Default Free Webcomics

    Hello,

Myself and a few pals are aspiring comic creators and we got together to set up a website to show our stuff.

If anyone is interested, please head over to http://www.cannonhillcomics.com

Currently, we have one comic strip running, which is called The United. This is the story of a dysfunctional group of heroic characters with weird abilities. (Hey, why's no-one ever thought of that before?) It's also set in the United Kingdom. (Seriously, this is cutting edge stuff.) New episodes are uploaded weekly.

It's had very positive reviews from my wife and my 6 month old son, so please check it out. There are comments sections over there so please feel free to leave comments that are not totally soul-destroying.

Below is a poster showing some of the characters.

    BOOM!

    Hello again,

We have another episode of The United up at http://www.cannonhillcomics.com and I posted some pages from that below. Basically, I wanted to draw a car chase, but something a wee bit different. The United is done in 7 page installments, so it had to be tight. The Tony Blair masks were a last minute thing.

I'm always looking to improve so comments are always welcomed!

Above is a pencilled page from Episode 11. This scene shows the ongoing sneaky antics of the Red Fox and Spider-Monkey.

    Love your work, Jonny.
Lovely black and white art, and an awesome grotty British Simon Pegg-ish vibe to the characters. And definitely a recommended read for fans of the old Marvel UK scene.

    Hello!

Book One of The United comes to an end, with the final episode now up at http://www.cannonhillcomics.com

Here is the lettered page 5 as a wee teaser (which I previously posted in pencilled and inked form):
    finale5.jpg

It would be great to get feedback from people either here, at Cannonhill Comics, @cannonhillcomic on Twitter, Cannonhiil Comics on Facebook or cannonhillcomics@gmail.com, so please let me know what you thought of the comic. I'd like to do letters pages in the printed versions if we actually get any mail/comments. (We wouldn't publish email addresses unless it's specifically requested.) Music-loving readers will undoubtedly have noticed that I used song titles for each episode. This reflects my terrible listening tastes. I'm still gutted I did use The Voice by John Farnham. (I'm serious - it has bagpipes.)

Hopefully, people dug the comic and if so, I'll do more in the future.

Cannonhill Comics will next feature 'Ally's Special Socks', a homage to 1980s UK football comics. This is written by me and drawn by Gav Boyle. Gav's the creator of Rapid Gazzer and Escape From Coatbridge. He also drew The Steamin' Headmaster, written by P.R.D. Differ. Gav's website can be found at:http://rapidcomics.com/.

After that, the website will feature Tales From The Garngad, which is a crime noir comic set in Glasgow.

I hope you check out the site and dig the comics.

Aloha! The first book of The United may be finished, but Tales From The Garngad, Space Rats and Ally's Special Socks all debut this month at http://www.cannonhillcomics.com

Here's the first unlettered page of Tales From The Garngad. It's a crime noir set in Glasgow, drawing on territoriality, poverty, binge drinking culture and, em, teen romance.

    Aloha,

Space Rats is now up at http://www.cannonhillcomics.com

This is what we're calling a McSci-Fi Noir. (Okay, no-one but me calls it that, but I hope it catches on.) Here is the first page:

    space rats first heist 1.jpg

This is written and drawn by me and coloured by Gavin Boyle. The dialogue font is KidKosmicBB by Blambot. Next week we'll see the debut of Alfie's Special Socks!

    Hello again,

We have a new comic strip up at http://www.cannonhillcomics.com. It's the afore-mentioned Alfie's Special Socks - a heartfelt homage to the football comics of the 1950s to 1990s. I suppose it's got a bit of Viz thrown in there too. This was drawn and coloured by Gavin Boyle and written by me. I hope people dig it. Gav's website can be found at:http://rapidcomics.com/. His stuff is nuts, in an entirely good way.

Feel free to follow us on Twitter @cannonhillcomic, like us on Facebook at Cannonhill Comics or emails us at cannonhillcomics@gmail.com

Also, it'd be great to get feedback on Space Rats and Alfie's Special Socks, as a couple of folk got in touch about The United and gave me some very, very helpful advice about storytelling and inking in particular.

    Hello,

Below is a page from the follow-up to Space Rats. This is being written and drawn by me and coloured by Gavin Boyle. The page shown is partially inked and I want to make it dreamlike, so I was thinking of rubbing some kind of wax over the page, then maybe using a razor (on the page, not my beard).

    Artistic advice is very welcome!

    Hello again,

I noticed that there was a wee issue with Alfie's Special Socks, in that the text was illegible. Apologies for this disgusting turn of events!

We have now resolved the issue with a higher res version uploaded. Alfie's adventures can be fully 'enjoyed' at:http://www.cannonhillcomics.com/comi...ecial-socks-5/

I'm currently working on Space Rats, Tales From The Garngad and a couple of covers. This is all coming soon! As soon as my 9 month old son lets me get near my drawing table! I'm so tired!

The United and Space Rats was also recently reviewed over at Comics Anonymous website: https://comicsanonymous2015.wordpres...-1-space-rats/ The website is a useful place to find out about a variety of independent comics. (For example, this is where I heard about Merrick the Sensational Elephant Man, which is very cool.)
