Yes! Goodbye, you crappy crap choice for Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Now I never have to see either of those horrible looking movies.
Currently Reading: A handful of series that will be canceled soon.
Why is this Andrew Garfield news...news? Not only that...the original Spidey/Sony/Marvel story circulating around the last 12 hours was pretty clear about his non-involvement - it wasn't vague. It's funny that separate confirmation articles need to be written and posted/published because people can't read.
I'm pretty sure it was revealed that he was fired months ago soon after ASM2 (though, not publicly) and confirmed by the Sony email leaks two months ago. Even if he wasn't, the leaks did talk shit about Garfield to the point that well yeah, there's zero chance they're asking him back and there's zero chance he'd say yes even if they did ask.
The idea of Spider-Man getting homogenized into the MCU and playing a role in something like Civil War makes me want to gag, but it's not like we're really losing anything, given how bad the ASM movies are.
I guess I'll just have to be content with the first two Raimi films.
This is good news and all but no Andrew? So does that mean the last 2 Spidey films would not have existed? 2017 is a little too soon for a reboot
I was initially very excited about this, but I have some major issues with it.
1) Andrew Garfield was excellent as Peter. I don't like that he's getting thrown out with the bathwater while Pascal is keeping her involvement. As others have said, SONY was the problem with the ASM movies.
2) I'm FURIOUS over Spider-Man pushing back Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Thor back! I would watch any of those movies over another Spidey rehash.
Color me NOT happily on board with this.
Hopefully a deal can be made with FOX and the Fantastic Four.
I'm not as happy about this as anybody else.
Sure, the Webb cast was not perfect, but Spidey works better on his own.
I never liked him as part of the Avengers, he really contributed nothing besides dry jokes.
A 4th Raimi-Movie, that would've been nice.
I used to really love those movies but they've really dated themselves. S-M was pretty much Superman: The Movie homage and S-M2 becomes Batman Forever every passing year. I suppose it's the dated stage-y direction style I don't like (unless it's Wes Anderson). ASM and ASM2 have that terrible annoying trait too. And then there's the writing. Well, when you have the guys who wrote/showran CW teen melodramas before the Green Lantern movie writers took over that niche these days who was also responsible for such greats such as Timecop and Herbie Fully Loaded, well... I mean c'mon, their best work ever is probably Lethal Weapon 4 and having Chris Rock say the line "My baby...is having your baby...ohhh baby!"

I've no doubt that if the avengers were created today and it was his decision then Spiderman would be on the team. If Stan Lee was the decision maker it's not so likely, given the number of times he specifically avoided putting him on a team.
The only Spiderman story that should be told within the context of the Avengers, either in movies or comics, is why he will never be a member of the team. Hopefully that's exactly what will happen with Civil War. He'll get so disillusioned with both heroes that he makes his own way.
For Marvel to use Miles, Sony would have to sign off. Don't see that happening
If Garfield is gone the only remaining question is which hot young Brit actor will they bring in to play the iconic American hero from queens this time?

I've seen things you posters wouldn't believe. Ad-spammers aflame off the shoulder of
rec.arts.sf.written. I watched cancel posts glitter in the ether near the usenet gateway.
All those moments will be lost in time... like beer in the rain. Time to unsubscribe.
