It was established in the giffen/Dematteis JLI as sort of a joke. It wouldn't exactly be appropriate in the serious morrison/waid's JLA run. However , outside of JLI , a few superman comics and of course , his own martian manhunter comic has "chocos" moments. (Guess nabisco objected to the use of Oreos)

Can't jonn just be a good person,and not a dirty whatever? I would rather he be a good guy who lost his family and planet who got thrust to present day earth and instead of burying himself in depression over it,he strives to help others.

Btw the supergirl TV show and the YJ TV shows suits are the best imo.
