Also, turns out that boyfriend, Hector/Spectro, coined the Silkworm name, so Cindy gets a pass there.
It'd be funny if Silk encountered Gwenpool soon - they both have ghost sidekicks now!

I love the new artist on the book. Their style feels much more in-line with Stacey Lee's work on the title. I'm almost kind of disappointed that Thompson has confirmed Tana Ford is coming back after the Clone Conspiracy arc...
I like Cindy and Hector's banter with each other. They feel like a cute, if definitely unconventional, couple .
This issue was a really great set up -looking forward to what happens with Mattie (Who, despite what she thinks, is not the one and only Spider-Woman :P)

Cover by HELEN CHEN
A CLONE CONSPIRACY TIE-IN!
• Cindy Moon is still on the West Coast, operating as SILKWORM to protect her secret identity.
• But the Jackal’s nefarious operations have started to hit close to home when Cindy’s ghost-powered and sometimes-boyfriend Hector (A.K.A. SPECTRO) gets caught in the middle!
• Fortunately, Mattie Franklin, the original Spider-Woman, is alive and well again, and happy to lend a hand…or six!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99
"Sometimes-boyfriend?" Well, I guess that's one way to refer to a ghost boyfriend .
Really curious to see if Mattie will survive this.
For the record, Mattie Franklin was the third Spider-Woman, not the original Spider-Woman. If the solicit had said that she was the first Spider-Woman to have explicit ties to Spider-Man as opposed to Jessica Drew and Julia Carpenter, who had the spider motif as well but didn't really interact with him outside guest spots and team-ups, that would have been more accurate. Still, Mattie seems to be on the side of the angels despite owing her resurrection to the Jackal, so hopefully she and Cindy can have a good team-up, and speaking of Cindy, she's also going to be forming another "New Fantastic Four" homage in the pages of Robbie Reyes's Ghost Rider series with Amadeus Cho/Totally Awesome Hulk, Laura Kinney/All-New Wolverine, and of course Robbie/All-New Ghost Rider himself.
The spider is always on the hunt.
And I am 100% OK with that.

And the Ultimate Spider-Man comics and cartoon.
Same here. If Spider-Woman was an experiment in creating a "derivative character" that had her own unique origin, abilities, history, and skill-set that didn't depend on the "template character" in any substantial way, it was one that succeeded beautifully.
The spider is always on the hunt.
Jessica was originally a trademark grabber. There was going to be a cartoon called Spider Woman, so Marvel forced them to rename it Web Woman by getting the Spider-Woman comic book out first. They got a lucky hit and Jessica had her own cartoon a couple of years later. So, yeah, it definitely succeeded, and it was all an accident!
Which was what I was thinking of .
Though it does make it feel kinda weird to retroactively insert said character into the template character's franchise, and why there are so many jokes about Spider-Woman not being related to Spider-Man .Same here. If Spider-Woman was an experiment in creating a "derivative character" that had her own unique origin, abilities, history, and skill-set that didn't depend on the "template character" in any substantial way, it was one that succeeded beautifully.
Then again, I think most of the "derivative characters" in the Spider-line have a decent degree of separation from the main Spider-Man for the most part, especially compared to other comic families.
Yeah, 2099 and Anya Corazon aren't directly linked to Peter either, in terms of their origins. And as mentioned, neither is Julia Carpenter.
The one and only thing is a call back to the cover of #1 of Mattie's series.
