Has any other character been as screwed over in events over the years as Rachel has in favor of another? Seems like she's been sidelined since she returned from space. Heck, her last big showing in a main event itself was Avengers vs X-Men and all her stuff was regulated to tie-ins. Than ever since Tean has showed up Rachel has been tossed aside as if she's too filthy to use for events.

Have a feeling that Magneto will forget that he has Rachel on speed dial and Emma will forget that Rachel was her pupil before the much more inexperienced Tean.
Its not like Rachel was been well utilized in big X-events before Teen Jean showed up so I really wouldnt blame her presence as to why she is. Rachel has always been a side character in the X-men books. Excalibur is the only time she really stood out and arguably her introduction in Uncanny which did drive story

that entire story was very divorced from the X-world and what resulted in her being written out for years. It was great for her but very much a side story to the X-men, which adds to my point. Meanwhile big crossovers and events were happening across the X-books at the time, Messiah Complex, Necrosha, Second Coming, etc....Rachel was jut MIA and this was with no Jean around. She's never been a focal point or drove any of this type of stuff either

It was a big event in the Galactic/Universal area just like Annihilation and Conquest was. Shame that the Space stuff wasn't mass loved until the GoTG movie years later.

Rachel had a big part in Secret Wars II. The Beyonder had weird taste in X-Ladies (Rachel, Dazzler, Boom Boom).

A: Just because Jean has a prominent role doesn't mean Rachel is absent. Jean and Rachel were both in Civil War. Rachel could be one of the main X-Men attacking the Inhumans, while Jean is sicked on Karnak. B: Experience. As Emma Frost said, she got her experience on the battlefield. That's how you get experience. You may need some guidance and training, but the way you really learn to fight with your powers is to actually fight with your powers. Emma has always been good at getting her students to throw down and fight.

At any rate we know during Resurrexion, Jean in X-Men:Blue and in her own comic book while Rachel is in X-Men: Gold. Doesn't sound like Rachel got screwed up.

And Rachel's last big showing at an event was Battle of the Atom, and she was there. She even defeated baby Xavier in psychic combat.

Rachel has almost always been better outside of mainstream X-universe and off doing her own thing. She is one of few X-Men characters who are better off outside of the X-men.

I covered that when I mentioned her initial Uncanny run

    I'd agree with that

Every event that Tean played a prominent role has resulted in Rachel being absent. Rachel is lucky to even appear in said events. Marcel for these events seems to have a 1 red headed telepath rule so when they push Tean they forget Rachel exists.

They're also going to war. Yet Emma seems quite stupid in this regard to forget about Rachel who was once her pupil and is still one of the most powerful Mutants despite losing the Phoenix.

Going to war and forgetting some of your best is like going into the desert and forgetting to bring water.

X-men Gold is an ongoing, not an event. Rachel has been screed over in many events. Her last big showing was avengers vs X-men and even than that was only in the tie ins. When it came to train Hope everyone forgot Rachel existed.

So Rachel getting in an ongoing doesn't change that she keeps getting screwed over in events. She wasn't even at her father's funeral and when asked on who would help Tean with the Phoenix it was Doctor Strange or Ghost Rider mentioned not Rachel. Which is Stupid that she's forgotten yet again as she's the #1 Phoenix expert on the planet.

And no, Rachel was ignored for botm outside the tie ins and all she did was drive over than gave up when Tean surrendered. Rachel was than absent in the major fight.

Alternate Rachel's in Secret Wars in tie-in, not the main book, aren't the sane as they aren't outlet Rachel and none of Secret wars stuff effected our Rachel at all.

If Rachel was involved in AvX, the entire plot couldn't have happened. There was no threat from the Phoenix. It was clear from what Bendis and Brevoort said that they hated Claremont giving the Phoenix to Rachel and neither liked Excalibur.

With Teen Jean, if the Phoenix is a big scary threat, then hearing what happened to Rachel also doesn't make sense. Perhaps, a scene with Rachel and Teen Jean at the cemetery where Jean learns about the Grey family massacre would fit into the Phoenix as the Big Bad, but not that Rachel had the Phoenix under control.

In the X-Men movies, it's likely (if there is another one with the current cast), they are headed towards Dark Phoenix with Sansa/Jean as a out of control teen and nothing much related to the actual Dark Phoenix comic. My guess is the X-Office wants to have some Jean/Phoenix comic that appeals more to the Tumblr crowd and has Dark Phoenix without having the Hellfire Club, outer space and less realistic elements of the Dark Phoenix Saga in trade when that next movie comes out.

From what I "heard", Sansa Jean is in outer space returning home when she notices/is notice by the PF (a separate entity from her), gets all powered up, to come out alive and OK at the end (most likely without the PF), but with her powers more under control and amped up some.

But who knows? At this point, all seems to be speculation!

But again your complaint is under the assumption that Rachel would be involved if Teen Jean weren't around and thats a false assumption to have bc Marvel has rarely utilized her in the big crossover or events. Teen Jean has only been a factor since 2013. There were tons of events in the X-men universe and Rachel was non-existent for most of that. Where was Rachel for Second Coming, Messiah Complex, Necrosha, House of M, Nation X, Utopia, Schism, Fear Itself, etc....? That is not teen Jean's fault. Marvel simply doesnt care for Rachel like that.

I dont understand why writers or editor's dont just change her powerset to move her away from Jean's shadow. It will be easiest way to do separate the two and give Rachel her own unique role

I think its too late to do that nearly 30 years after she's been introduced. They somewhat are attempting that with X-men Gold, rebranding her as Prestige and thats already been meant with discord so Im not sure it will go over well. I think Claremont did her a disservice throwing so many of Jean's motifs onto Rachel, both times he wrote her in Uncanny

If the editors want it, it can be done. Prestige is meeting with discord because that name doesnt suit her at all. Revenant would be lot better and accepted as a codename. If her power change is handled well , it wont be a problem with fans. I think the editors themselves view her as a replacement for Jean or her copy. This is probably the biggest reason why she does better outside of X-books whe she is usually written differently than how she is in X-books
