Apparently 'overrated' means financially successful and critically acclaimed nowadays.

Big Hero 6 is continuing what Frozen did for Disney, recapturing the family friendly, mass appeal movies that helped give it its name. And it's working. Just ask anyone who bought Disney stock five years ago.
I've said it before and I've said it again: Disney is currently in a new golden age. Or, as some people (including myself) call it, the "Revival Era". Started from Princess and the Frog.

Exactly. I mean, it's not Toy Story, Ratatouille, Shrek, Paranorman, The Lion King, or Beauty and the Beast.

Still good, but there is better, animated, Disney, female led, musicals.

    Much better.

    Holy crap! Disney sucks!
BH6 just popped in at 20 on the top domestic.
So Disney only got 3 films in the top 20 of domestic animated films?

That merchandise, man.... that merchandise says it all.
Now i know why they sue the crap out of everyone.

I am going to make a wild guess and say many people liked it, because barely noone knows the comics it is supposed to be from. Because the movie is nothing like the comic. Makes me wonder if there exist any Big Hero 6 comic fanbase. and if yes: Did they like the movie? I watched it and the tall blonde girl is so disney cliche. She acts like any other disney animated movie character.
If people didn't care that the source material was not taken into account, maybe the ant-man movie will be a hit also.

Ended up watching Big Hero 6 last night. A lot of fun. Makes me hope that maybe Disney and Sony can team together to release a Spider-Man animated movie, in the vein of BH6, Frozen and Wreck-It Ralph!

Like seriously, if you don't account for inflation you're not even trying. Also Sleeping Beauty with inflation is one of the top grossing movies of all time.

Most of the rest of that top 20 are Disney movies too.

Yes and no. Pixar is now owned by Disney, but they are still very much their own company. That's one of the requests from Lassetter when He sold to Disney. He gets the main chair and Pixar is allowed to keep on their way with no interference from the House of Mouse. That's why Disney movies and Pixar movies are not considered as part of a whole.

If Pixar was its own company, they would have made more than one original film in the past five years. Pixar is a brand like Marvel, it gives audiences an idea of what to expect, but they're both still Disney.

Somebody must have read them just as somebody somewhere had read the original Guardians of the Galaxy but neither film would be made to be geared to them as they were such a small group. Comic book fans in general are a small group but when you look at titles who don't even sustain an ongoing for 100 issues then it gets to be microscopic. So yeah, most people aren't going to be judging Ant-Man by either his comics or the guy who used to be attached to direct it.

As far as does anyone at all like it? Well yeah, 90% of critics did
    http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/big_hero_6/

As did 89% of critics who saw Frozen

but we'll just keep pretending the few naysayers on this forum are "everybody" LOL

Yet creatively speaking Pixar does as they see fit. And that's why they are their own company. It's an entirely different matter that they don't lavish too much this days. But it's a moot point and a derail from the actual subject so, good for Disney and their winning streak
