Cary Bates' 1970-1985 run, though the TRIAL OF THE FLASH that comprised the final two years of the run is an acquired taste for some fans.

The earliest Silver Age stories, as variously compiled over the years in ARCHIVES, SHOWCASE, and CHRONICLES collections, is required reading for fans of classic DC Comics and particularly, THE FLASH.

I'm one who finds the latter a very acquired taste. Still, Cary Bates is always the first writer I think of when I think of Barry.

I want to read Trial of The Flash, good/bad/in between, but I will only read it in color, if & unlikely when DC finally collects ALL of it together in tpb (or multiple ones).

It is one of the most notable pre-COIE Flash stories, good or bad. DC should do like the new Knightfall volumes with it.

    I second this recommendation.
