That's different, though, because Barry hadn't been the Flash for a long time. If Wally were reinstated as the Flash tomorrow, there would be a lot more contemporary readers of Barry than at the time the polls you were referring to.

That's the data we have, however. And it's not like if Barry was absent, either. If I'm not mistaken, 2006 DC's popularity contest had Wally at #3 and Barry somewhere between 10 and 15. By 2014 (15?), Barry kept the same spot, and Wally was 8th or 9th.

We could always reinstate Wally and take a poll next year!

    Wally West.

Mark Waid's run on the book is LEGENDARY and he introduced some amazing concepts to the mythos. I have always been aware of Flash but Waid made him awesome

Look Dan Didio, Wally is clearly the fan favourite. Don't go killing him off...whoops' too late.

Barry Allen. He's one of us (or at least me). Shy, geeky guys who love comics get a character who, superspeed aside, could almost be one of them.

I was a big Barry fan through out the seventies and early eighties
But Flash vol.2 with Wally West changed that and Wally became my favorite
through many top writers delivering some of there best work ever.
Although I followed Flash in New 52 and than the first twenty issues of rebirth,
I have not been able to care or really want anything from after Pre-Flash Point Flash.

    Default Favorite Flash?

    Just like it says.

    Who is your favorite Flash?

Strictly adults who claim the name "The Flash" are allowed.

No Kid-only Flashes (Black Wally, OG Wally's kids), no non-FLash speedsters (Max Mercury, Jesse Quick, etc), no temporarily-powered civilians.

    Jay.

    Barry.

    Wally.

Bart. (he counts, for the microsecond he was THE Flash, in 2006-2009?).

Sorry, it's hard to find an image with all the Flashes in adult form.

Me: It used to be OG Wally West. I grew up with him. But once they made him a dad (with aged up kids) and then brought Barry back, I dropped him. Now I know there's a company-wide push to put Barry up there with Clark, Bruce, and Diana (and technically, Arthur), but I'll never get into Barry the way I found OG Wally. And I respect the heck out of Jay for starting the whole franchise. Bart ... I never liked him initially, but I kinda did want to see the next gen take the mantle. But the DCU bows to the ageless Trinity, which I actually don't have a problem with. So, at this point, one Flash is as good as the next to me.

Jay Garrick and it’s no contest!

Grew up with Wally as the Flash and while I love Wally, Jay was instantly my favorite with his costume.

Grew up with Barry as Flash (and Wally as Kid Flash), but once I discovered him, Jay became my favorite.

Bart is a great character, and I love me some Young Justice, but he's my favorite *Impulse,* not my favorite Flash.

The first Flash I read was Barry Allen. I watched Wally West in the JL Cartoon. But I love Jay. The JSA are my favorite group and Jay was the backbone of that group. I love him and am looking for his old adventures from the 40s.

Wally with Barry close behind. Soft spots for Jay and Bart of course.

I love Barry and Jay but Wally is my favorite.

And I hope Bart never becomes The Flash ever again. He should start his own legacy. And Impulse is such a cool name.

I thought Bart as the Flash wasn't a bad idea, and one that was probably inevitable. I thought it came too soon though (maybe ten years after they actually did it), and DC didn't assign the right team to do it. Moreover, DC went into Bart's tenure as the Flash *knowing* it was finite and would be short-lived.

Wally. He was the first Flash I read, and had exposure to through the DCAU. Most of the iconic stuff I associate with the Flash came about with Barry though, so I like Barry almost as much and can be satisfied with either one of them if it is well written.

Jay I like in his capacities as the oldest semi-retired Flash and the Flash of Earth-2, but I can never think of him as the main one over the other two to be my favorite. He's great as a supporting mentor, whichever Earth he happens to be on at the time.
