Default Who is Peter's best love interest?

In your opinion, who's been the best love interest for Peter Parker? Gwen? MJ Watson? Felicia Hardy?

MJ, no contest. I liked Gwen and she was excellent in the two ASM movies, but the relationship with MJ is the one relationship that has been best developed through the years. She's a great character too.

While I believe that they never should have been married, Peter and MJ was the only romance in comics that I ever actively rooted for.

Mary Jane, hands down. The ying to Peter's yang in a lot of cases. It's pretty much like Lois and Clark, hard to see anyone but the red head being with Peter because they just seem to get one another.

I get why Marvel didn't want them married, though. Maybe their relationship was simply TOO good? I think Carlie is okay, too. I don't get why she has so much hate online.

Maybe if Marvel had incorporated the ideas given to Carlie Cooper unto Betty Brant, things might have turned out differently. Or even Felicia Hardy. But Marvel wasted so much time with keeping MJ around with no intention of bring them together. Yet all of the new love interests created were total duds instead of using those planned idea unto existing characters.

Wasted time? Nah. I just think they wanted us to not be sure where Peters live life is heading, and I have no problem with that.

And we have already seen the results of that. Personally, I think that Peter should not have a love life(At the moment) and to instead focus on flushing out his friendship stories with characters like Betty Brant or Felicia Hardy initially, and to move on to Carol Danvers and Jessica Drew, followed by Black Widow and Silver Sable on the Spider-Man side. On the Peter Parker side, the focus could have started on Greer Nelson(Tigra), Jennifer Walters, Psylocke, and Liz Allan/Julia Carpenter.

The best relationships begins with a close friendship first and foremost because flushing out those stories has huge potential.

I know, you dream about Tigra, She-Hulk, Black Widow and Felicia Hardy. Let's agree to disagree, I prefer when Peter has a more grounded love life than what you describe here. :-)

And Psylocke? Really? How do you see her fit into Peter's life...?

MJ has almost 50 years of history. Unless one finds it all to be garbage, it's hard to see another love interest being "best". Maybe "favorite" would get different results?

    Also, Liz Allan?

By the way, Liz's last name has been spelled with an "a" and an "e" from time to time in the past.

How important MJ is to Peter may also depend on your perspective. Older readers remember when Gwen Stacy seemed like the girl for Peter.

As for the poll, . . . why no option for Johnny Storm?
