I'm a very picky reader and it takes me awhile to find a book or series to get into. I've been book hopping since I finished the Dresden Files but I think I've found a series to sink my teeth into. A friend recommended Raymond Feist's Riftwar series and I found the first collection at my local used book store. I burned through a good portion of book 1 last night and I am really enjoying it.

    Favorite Characters:
DC: The Flash (Jay & Wally), Starman- Jack Knight, Stargirl, & Shazam!.
MARVEL: Daredevil, Spider-Man (Peter Parker), & Doctor Strange.

    Current Pulls: Not a thing!

I'll recommend it wholeheartedly, too. I have read more books from that series than any other. Just try to read them in order for your own sake. Also, my favorite books from that series are the Kelewan trilogy, FWIW.

    IT, by Stephen King
"The Batman is Gotham City. I will watch him. Study him. And when I know him and why he does not kill, I will know this city. And then Gotham will be MINE!"-BANE

"We're monsters, buddy. Plain and simple. I don't dress it up with fancy names like mutant or post-human; men were born crueler than Apes and we were born crueler than men. It's just the natural order of things"-ULTIMATE SABRETOOTH

    Thanks!
Read in publication order? I heard there is a crazy chronological order, but it is kind of hard to follow.

Overall one of my favourite writers. I think the books I most enjoyed were the Empire trilogy that were co-authored with Janny Wurts.

But the most recent couple I read (about half a dozen years ago) felt completely “flat” to me. Has he returned to form since?

I always prefer publication order to any after-the-fact order, but you may disagree. IOW, the first Star Wars film for me is still the one from 1977, not 1999.

The Empire books were the ones I was referring to as my favorite before. Mara is one of my all-time favorite characters.

As for the more recent books, while I still enjoyed them, I agree they don't hold up as well as the earlier ones.

    Yeah, same here.

To me, the 1977 movie is just "Star Wars". I don't even normally remember what it later got renamed, and I actually haven't seen any other movies in that franchise other than "Star Wars" (1977), "The Empire Strikes Back" (1980), and "Return of the Jedi" (1983), all of which I saw in the movie theaters during their original runs.

New Kindle e-book: Bat Wing (1920) by Luke Fox... er, I mean, Sax Rohmer.

I saw all three of them at the theater, too (well, the first one I actually saw at the drive-in with my family, but I saw it in a theater when it was rereleased in the late '90s).

I finished reading Donald Trump's "autobiography" called Art of the Deal. It is hard to believe he could have written the book. There are so many intimate and personal details in this book but i wonder if any of them are true, since it was entirely ghostwritten by someone else?

Phillis Wheatley's Poems on Various Subjects, religious and Moral. The first african american to write a book.

"Great Sire of verse, before my mortal eyes
The Lightning blaze across the vaulted skies
And, as the thunder shakes the heaven'nly plains,
A Deep felt horror thrills through all my veins
when gentler strains demand thy graceful song
The lengh'ning line moves languishing along
When great patroclus courts achilles' aid
The grateful tribute of my tears is paid"
