I finished reading the Joyce St. Anthony mystery DEATH ON A DEADLINE. Here's my Goodreads review of the book!

Those Lazarus Long stories are quite fun and thought provoking, as well as highly recommendable. With that said, Heinlein must have some wild sexual fantasies.

Started rereading The Executioner by Don Pendleton as the original series is available on the Kindle. I’m currently on book #4, Miami Massacre.

Man, I haven't read any of those since . . . the last century!

I think it was back when I was in maybe +/- 7th or 8th grade when I read a few of those, as well as Nick Carter and Matt Helm books. I use to pick up copies in paperback from book sales run by the College Women's Club, of which my Mom was a member.

I started reading The Executioner around 1977, three years after the debut of The Punisher whom co-creator Gerry Conway based on Mack Bolan. Men’s adventure books were big in the 70’s with titles like The Penetrator, The Death Merchant and the crazy as hell Destroyer series which was my second favorite after Bolan.

I just received a copy of the new W.E.B. Griffin Men At War novel The Devil's Weapons from the publisher. Not even an advance copy but rather it is the finished hardcover edition.

Reading ALGEBRA TO CALCULUS: UNLOCKING MATH'S AMAZING POWER by Mike Goldsmith (2018, Shelter Harbor Press), 180 pages. Nearly finished, but I will probably go back through this book several times.

It gives a lot of the intellectual history on how mathematics developed and why things like algebra and calculus were needed to figure stuff out.

When I was in school, my grades in mathematics were like a yo-yo. One year I'd be at the top of my class and the next year I'd be at the bottom. Grade 11, my marks were high, but grade 12, I barely passed. I'd like to find some of those old text books and go through them to see if I know more now than I did then--but we always had to turn in our textbooks at the end of year. If second-hand bookstores were still in existence, I'd be looking in those.

Our teachers never gave us the reason for why we had to learn this stuff--we just has to learn it by rote. I'm the sort who needs to know the why for of a thing.

This book gives a lot of background on the history and the individuals and the reasons and the applications. But it does move at a fast clip.

I haven't read anything from that series yet. Besides the Brotherhood of War, I have only read the first two installments of his Corp series. Eventually, though, I will read everything by Mr. Griffin.

The book is actually written by someone else just under Griffin's name.

I assumed he wasn't the writer, since Griffin has been deceased a few years now.

    Just wanted to be clear.

Also, I may be going to a book signing for one of my favorite authors next Saturday.
