LOTR: Two Towers - it can be a chore to get used to Tolkien but his writing and world-building is flawless

I had the new illustrated box set of The Hobbit and LOTR for my birthday recently. I'm looking forward to getting through those.

At the moment though, I've gone back to Dune. I put this down months ago after reading roughly half of it as I was finding it a bit of a chore to get through but I'm getting into it this time.

A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway. I usually know if I like a book when I'm halfway through it but I'm undecided with this one.

I saw the Gary Cooper-Helen Hayes film from the early '30s before I read the book, so I figured I would like it (which I did ).

Little Women, written by Louisa May Alcott
A superb edition that collects both books and is a direct translation to spanish from the original novels, so it hasn't got the changes later done to the story to be closer to a generic romantic novel

The illustrated version of the Hobbit looks amazing. I saw it in Waterstones recently.

Are you enjoying it? It's turning back into being a chore to read for me and I still can't connect with any characters in it.

I went into Waterstones on Saturday. That was the first time I've been in a book shop since January/February. I bought Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky. I'm hoping a more modern sci fi book will make up for what Dune is doing to me!
