Books: What have you been reading?

I found it a little tough at first.

I didn't have any problem with it myself, FWIW. Maybe because I had seen or read so many different adaption of the story before reading it for the first time in the '90s.

Started reading a book I picked up at a book sale from this past weekend

I found it a little tough at first.

It's taking me a while to get through it but that's down to time, not the book itself. I'm still enjoying it. It did dip a bit but I persevered and it's picked up again now.

I finished reading the rest of The Raven Cycle series (The Dream Thieves, Blue Lily, Lily Blue, and The Raven King) by Maggie Stiefvater. A great contemporary magic series with very strong character work. I really enjoyed the series, my only minor nitpick is that I wish some elements and characters introduced in the final book had shown up a little earlier in the series.

Apparently, if you're a contractor providing security in a foreign country for U.S representatives, it's totally cool to straight-up massacre people for no reason.

Latest Kindle read: The Epic of Gilgamesh by author unknown (2,100 B.C. - most likely the oldest great story that we know of).

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Enjoyed the prequel novellas to GOT. Had a less hopeless feel too.

Definitely a huge fan of The Shadow stories. Such a simple sounding idea that becomes something else entirely.
