I realize I neglected to say one thing about it. As I said the Secret History novella is a must read AFTER the first Mistborn trilogy as its sort of a behind the scenes story of whats going on in the Mistborn trilogy and specifically references events in the trilogy as they are happening. You absolutely will want to read this though I can't say even really say why without spoiling things. However I just remembered that its also very spoilerish for the climax of the 3rd book in the second trilogy as something happens at the end of Secret History that leads directly into the end of that book. I know you can buy Secret History as a stand alone on Kindle but I think to get it in print its only collected as part of collection he did called Arcanum Unbound.

I've had a look after reading your post and found this...

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mistborn-Se...=UTF8&qid=&sr=

I'll stay away from it until I've read the first trilogy though.

Currently listening to Monster Hunter Vendetta by Larry Correia. Book two of the Monster Hunter series. Pretty good, definite step up from the first book. This series is basically like the Dresden files only instead of magic against evil creatures its gun, big guns, and even bigger guns. A team of Monster Hunters who protect society from monsters. The main character borders on being on a Gary Stu character at times but its not too much yet.

The Dresden files was kinda weak in the first book just like this series but like Dresden this series definitely is getting better.

Today I bought ASOIAF: A Clash of Kings and Mistborn Book One: The Final Empire. I'm leaning towards starting Mistborn first.

Firestarter the final novel in the Timekeeper Trilogy by Tara Sim. A darker tone than the previous two novels, with better, more thrilling action, and a good conclusion. I almost gave up on this series after the first book, but I'm glad I stuck with it, as each subsequent book is better than the one before.

Just started sampling A Classical Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue (the 1811 version originally created in 1785) by Francis Grose, which highlights the slang of the time.

A War in Crimson Embers, the last of the Crimson Empire trilogy. Book two was a bit boring to be honest, it felt like they were just hanging around waiting for book three to start. Book one was excellent though and book three is good so far

That's definitely a good one to read for your first, Enigma. FWIW, I read it back in '87.

Its different than the most recent movie if thats what inspired you. So you'll be in for some surprises.

Been so long since I've read I can't really recall whether I liked it or not relative to his other works of which I've read nearly all. The book I always tell people to read of his as a shorter starter book is Salem's Lot. Dated because its set in the 70's but otherwise good. Or if your wiling to dive into a LONG book then the Stand.
