Any connection with the Ruby Herring movies on the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel?

Nope, this is the debut novel in a new series from the author, so it isn't tied to those movies in any way. The series is called the Avery Ayers Antique Mysteries.

Party Wars: Polarization and the Politics of National Policy Making by Barbara Sinclair.

From the back cover: Party Wars is the first book to describe how the ideological gulf now separating the two major parties developed and how today's fierce partisan competition affects the political process and national policy.

Reading Ross Macdonald's The Chill. Really, really good. Recently finished The Zebra-Striped Hearse and that was also very good.

The last Ross Macdonald I read a few months ago was The Far Side of the Dollar.
Next up at some point will be his Black Money.

I finished Shadow and Bone the other day and even though it's a YA fantasy and I'm probably about 20 years older than the target audience, I enjoyed it. I'm now reading...

So, Jon Land is taking over the "Margaret Truman" series as well as "Murder, She Wrote" from the late Donald Bain? (Then again, it looks like Terrie Farley Moran is now on "Murder, She Wrote" with the books being published in 2021.)

Yeah, Jon Land is done with the Murder, She Wrote series after 6 books. It's a shame because I've read the first three (have the other three in my TBR pile) and I thought his take on them was great. But I get the feeling that his books weren't completely accepted by the previously established fan base for the books. I'd love to find out from the author if he stopped on his own or if they didn't renew his contract. I am friends with him on Facebook and I've met him at a host of his signings.
