My Christmas book haul featured three anthologies with stories by Edith Maxwell and the Paige Shelton thriller DARK NIGHT. I turned a gift card into Carol Pouliot's DEATH RANG THE BELL. And my friend Ann has arranged for us to go to a book signing and go to lunch with Edith Maxwell.

And check out how my books came wrapped?

Looking for recommendations on African writers (especially South African writers) like Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah or Ijeoma Umebinyuo. Maybe a little out of place asking it here but I had to try

It's funny, but while I have read lots of books by African-Americans, I guess the only writer I have read of African origin is Albert Camus. Yeah, I agree that's kind of lame on my part.

I loved Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, who is nigerian. I highly recommend it. My girlfriend is a fan or her essay books, so those should be great too.

Here's a link to a list. Though I don't exactly think of Nadine Gordimer or Chinua Achebe as exactly contemporary.

Yaa Gyasi books (Homegoing and Transcendent Kingdom) are popular at my library, but I haven't read them.

There's a few Nigerian Americans (Tochi Onyebuchi and Tomi Adeyemi) that have some popular speculative fiction, but I'm not sure if that is who / what you are looking for.
Namor the Sub-Mariner, Marvel's oldest character, will have been published for 85 years in 2024. So where's my GOOD Namor anniversary ongoing, Marvel?
