I never realized how many stories there actually were. I read the two novellas and a collection of six short stories before Arson Plus, but that really doesn't scratch the surface much.

    I recently bought this:

The Big Book of the Continental Op by Dashiell Hammett, edited by Richard Layman and Julie M. Rivett
(Vintage Crime / Black Lizard Original, November 2017)

even though I may have already read many of the stories in other Hammett collections I already own. But the idea of reading the stories chronologically, plus the other material putting them in context, made it worth buying.

    Haven't started reading it yet, though . . .

It definitely would be a welcome addition to my library, Major.

Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. I'm about a hundred pages in, and this is probably the most violent thing I have exposed myself to. That aside, it is truly magnificent story so far.

I finished reading William Christie's The Double Agent and submitted my review to Mystery Scene magazine.

I also finished reading an advance copy of Carlene O'Connor's new thriller No Strangers Here.

Finally going to do it: The Yale Shakespeare: The Complete Works (written by the Bard of Avon before we were all born - this edition is from 1993). Right now, I'll be reading the Comedies*, take a break, then the Histories, another break, and finally the Tragedies and poems.

Before today, only Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth (plus a few sonnets) were read by me 40-something years ago (though I have seen quite a few movie adaptations).

    * All’s Well That Ends Well
    As You Like It
    The Comedy of Errors
    Love's Labour's Lost
    Measure for Measure
    The Merchant of Venice
    The Merry Wives of Windsor
    A Midsummer Night's Dream
    Much Ado About Nothing
    The Taming of the Shrew
The Tragedy of Troilus and Cressida
    Twelfth Night
    The Two Gentlemen of Verona.
