Great read. Close to 30 years since I first tackled it myself. BTW, the first book (comics are a different story ) of fiction I ever bought was by King (Night Shift).

I like all of his stuff, but I do think he has improved over the years.

I actually think that story wise the quality has gone downhill imo.

King has a great personality, I guess, I love On Writing, the Mr.Mercedes trilogy, Doc Sleep etc. but then I went and bought Needful Things... the style is so different. I'd love to love Needful Things and the DarkTower but ultimately don't. Still am a King fan, he writes great dialogue, I hope to improve my English by reading King and he seems to be such a classy guy (despite his troubles which he overcame). MARVEL's adaption of the Stand is really great, too.

I actually read The Stand in one sitting a little over 30 years ago. That's the only book of that size that I ever did that with, too.

I was referring more to his prose style than the actual plots themselves. In regard to the latter, you may have a good point.

Well, I certainly enjoyed work like 'The Tommyknockers' and the aforementioned 'It'. I thought that King's work from that period was fine.

It was a period in the 90's that I felt like he'd taken his eye off the ball. I found both 'Gerald's Game' and 'Dolores Clairborne' underwhelming. 'Rose Madder' too.

Not read King in years. I think 'From A Buick 8' was the last one actually. Are his most recent works worth checking out?

I loved Dolores Claibourne. I especially enjoyed how there were no chapter breaks and the whole thing was one long rambling run-on speech from the title character. I also liked how the only part of the story that was even close to supernatural was the eclipse.

I second Joyland and imho the sequel to Mr.Mercedes is just as great (I kinda like novels that actually are about books and writers)

I actually enjoyed Dolores Claiborne, not as a horror movie but as a mystery one, though I believe the movie was better. I have Gerard's Game but I haven't read it.

My first King novel was Cell, if I'm not mistaken, which was kinda...whatever but I guess it's because zombies aren't my thing, I think King's weakest point are the endings like Scott Snyder I was very skeptical about a sequel for The Shining, but Doctor Sleep was good.

Oh, I was talking about the plots, agreed with the prose style though.

I read a lot of Tang Jia San Shao LNs particular his DD series.
I'm reading his DD3: Legend of the Dragon King at the moment.

After this I will try his Throne of Slaughter LN(Shen Yin Wang Zuo)

Some may remember this out of DD2
Yeah it has a manga adaption too but for me it was to slow

    Skyfire Avenue (Shared Universe)
    Mad God (Shared Universe)
    Child of Light (Shared Universe)
Shen Yin Wang Zuo (Shared Universe)
    Douluo Dalu (Prequel)
Douluo Dalu 2 – The Unrivaled Tang Sect (Prequel)
Magic Chef of Ice and Fire (Shared Universe)
    Heavenly Jewel Change (Shared Universe)
    Jiu Shen (Shared Universe)
    Zither Emperor (Shared Universe)
Douluo Dalu: 2.5 – Legend of the Divine Realm (Prequel)
