Nothing wrong with Amazons being flawless, The Waynes and Els are depicted as being saintly. Problem starts with their existence, now if they were extinct due to war with men and Diana being sole surivor of a dead paradise then that would be better.

The idea has also been toyed with of simply saying that Diana can't return to Paradise Island once she leaves it. That makes her arrival a bit more heroic. She literally gave up Paradise and her entire family in order to come help us.

Of course, this has the drawback of robbing Diana of a lot of good supporting characters, so the idea has its flaws as well. Plus, Diana's origin wasn't intended to be a tragic one. That's another thing that's supposed to be kind of unique about her. She didn't need to suffer some horrible loss or tragedy in order to become a hero. Just about all heroes these days follow this model, so Diana's happy childhood and supportive family kind of makes her stand out.

The Waynes and Els are never depicted as flawless, and no, Wonder Woman being a survivor of a dead race is far less unique and gives her less of a world.

That's true, and I think that's not just okay but beneficial. Trouble in paradise is a welcome theme in her history.

The Waynes and Els are never depicted as flawless, and no, Wonder Woman being a survivor of a dead race is far less unique and gives her less of a world.

Largely flawless and I'm more specifically referring to the parents not the extended lineage. It was only recently with Telltale series that Thomas was depicted as being a bad man. Kinda defeats the purpose of Batman if he is avenging bad people.

The trailer shows her mom isn't entirely happy with Diana leaving Themyscira so we'll be getting conflict. We pretty much get conflict all the time with the Amazons. The trick is keeping them sympathetic as well.

The film versions should be fine, this is the first outing. Its when decades of material when writers have to worry about coming up with something different.
