Did they even say Mayday's universe? I remember something along the lines of "here." But since assuming universe is more reason to get angry over, that's what some folks ran with.

No. Not that. When they said only two Spiders were alive, did they mean that immediate area or were they talking about the universe at large. Since it was clearly meant to mean that Peter was dead, I'm guessing the former.

I guess it has to be the former. We've seen Darkdevil on one of them Secret Wars covers.

It's odd if it was for the immediate area because they can detect where spiders are in what universe but once they get there they need to actively look for them. You would also think the other spiders might also be a priority if Daemos hadn't gotten to them yet.

Eh, the inheritors also missed Ultimate Peter Parker. They might just miss individual spider totems if the universe they are in already has a clump of spiders in one spot (Peter, Mayday, Benjy or Ultimate Jessica Drew and Miles.)

Or it's possible that Darkdevil and Kaine don't count as spider-totems because they don't wear any spider-themed garb or otherwise advertise their spidery-ness.

Neither did Patton Parnell up til he went full on spider but he was a target so I don't think that's it.

Heh, "wringer" is spelt "ringer" when Peter is talking to Mayday. Not sure if that was a typo or a meta gag about how fans (and by extension Tom D) have approached this particular version of Spider-Girl

Their "theory" doesn't mean much since they follow what the editors want. And Tom has said he is willing to work with the event being canon if asked.

Writers and artists don't own these characters. Marvel does.

While Tom and Ron did "follow the rules" they also told the story to give back a little hope to the fans of Mayday, thus their own "theory."
