    Default Mysterio vs. Scarecrow

Who would win in a fight between Mysterio and Scarecrow, if both sides get 6 months of prep?

Yeah this gets brought up fairly often and as with most spidey villian vs bats villians of similar motifs it's not really that close, understandably since Mysterio's normal opponent has built in precog that renders alot of illusion stuff useless from the get go, Mysterio has done things Scarecrow can only dream about, but don't worry, Killer Croc and Bane have a support group set up. Also, Mysterio's fish bowl is a sealed helmet complete with its own air supply, because he uses gas too and doesn't want to breath them in.

I would think that Mysterio's helmet would protect him from the fear gas, giving him a significant edge.

    Mysterio.

Seriously, the guy's productions are insane some times.

Like that one time he convinced Spider-man that Dock Ock had already fried the Earth.

    Exclamation Perception Contrast

This is a terrific rumble, since Mysterio (Marvel Comics) is the perfect super-villain to use to think about dangerous illusions and death-traps, while Scarecrow (DC Comics) is the perfect super-villain to use to think about general malice and fear.

Mysterio has that dastardly helmet which protects him from any potential fear gas Scarecrow could/would use, although Scarecrow could always create a mind challenge: "I, Scarecrow, dare you, Mysterio to drink this potion and see if your legendary wits can withstand the potent hallucinations it will create...after all, you are the professed master of illusions."

If Mysterio did actually agree to this challenge and drink this potion (which no doubt would be Scarecrow's deadly fear potion concoction), he could always create a rapid flurry of illusions and death-traps which effectively sets up a perception gauntlet which could in theory keep Mysterio's mind focused and sinister while Scarecrow himself is scrambling to deal with the illusions/traps in this hypothetical gauntlet.

Comic book characters are supposed to capture our imagination about daredevil behavior and risk assessment, and Mysterio and Scarecrow are both diabolical masters of risk hysteria. It's no wonder they have both been drawn in stories about atmospheric evil and terrain pits.

I think a great film that captures our curiosity about the sort of intrigue and bewilderment that Mysterio and Scarecrow represent is "Pan's Labyrinth" (2006).

Maybe it simply comes down to who you would rather see creating mania.
