The Dark Knight is transported to another planet in a special mission to explore this strange new world discovered by astronomers.

When the Dark Knight lands on this planet, which is named Xenox by the scientists on Earth, he begins surveying the terrain and checking for signs of intelligence, since Xenox was emitting radio signals of an intelligent design which reached the detectors of scientists on Earth.

The Dark Knight notices over the course of four months (his shuttle is equipped with food and water sufficient for one year) that Xenox is complicated by the presence of five realms of immense power and turbulence created and/or catalyzed by bizarre and relentless intelligent (but savage) humanoids:

1. in a stretch of desert-like flatland, a cannibal wielding an electric saw runs around chasing animals or other members of its species, sometimes throwing the saw at them to cut them down before completely ripping them up

2. in a strange developed bubble-city, a cruel mayor who calls himself the Giant requires 'volunteers' to enlist for his freakish gauntlet which is completely impossible to conquer, and the 'volunteers' either die in the gauntlet or are executed by the city police for insurgence and defiance for refusing to enter the gauntlet

3. in a body of water that is quarantined as a pool for bathing, a small impish magician claims that if women breed with him in the pool, they will bear very healthy children, and the women are so fanatical about this pool that they agree and concede

4. in a cave, a male and a female member of the inhabitants of Xenox feed their guests a strange drug that induces hallucinations of invisibility and creates erratic and derange behaviors

5. in an area of vegetation, a group of red-colored cloaked inhabitants are screaming at each other for no apparent reason in a gesture seemingly meant to convey the relentlessness of competition for foraging

The Dark Knight decides that he must somehow manage all these eccentric behaviors to create a more stabile and peaceful environment for Xenox. He sends communiques back to Earth scientists which inform them of his intentions, and they grant him license; he notices that the inhabitants of Xenox do not have any special vehicles equipped for flying.

The Dark Knight uses the thrust blasters on his sophisticated shuttle to create a loud sound emission which he releases as he flies over each of the five realms, and when he does, the Xenox inhabitants from each realm are shocked and look up at the sky to see what is making the sound. Over time, Xenox begins to quiet down, since the inhabitants are generally confused at what is making that sound, and every time they seek to continue in their bizarre behaviors, they hear it again, so they desist in the strange activities.

The Dark Knight returns to Earth and reports on the strange behaviors and also that creating an auditory-alarm police surveillance seems to quell such activity, since the inhabitants of Xenox are sensitive to auditory perception.

The scientists on Earth are pleased, but the Dark Knight wonders if Xenox is just as fragile and haunting as Gotham City on Earth.
